I haven't flown in a while, do people have the cheek to ask to swap seats with someone like this?

Especially when they have a nice window seat. "Sorry, do you mind swapping your window seat with the child whose in the middle row because he's a bit resetless and look at the view". I'd say NO

By the end of the year I'll have had 16 flights [inc 4 long haul] this year. I've only had a couple of issues, the first was more amusing than anything else...

But on a long haul flights this one was annoying...

I wouldn't swap seats with anyone unless they bought the seat off me.

What if the seat they wanted to give up was better located and without the obvious distractions than the one you'd bought.....I'd be off without a second thought.

No, nor me. But some people (like my mum and her friend) are very kind and will do whatever they can to help someone in (apparent) distress. Others have no scruples and will expect someone to give up their paid-for reserved seat for them. That's why I hate the concept of paying extra for reserved seats in the same cabin - it encourages that sort of behaviour whilst making extra money for the airline.

As it's their money and not yours, it's really up to them what they spend it on.
Sitting together can be important to some people and a waste of money to others.

That's why those people who aren't bothered about sitting with their travelling companion are happy that it's a chargeable option - with the emphasis on 'option'.

Did I say it wasnt their money then? Under the same principal, its my opinion and not yours so it is really up to me what I think.

And if we just used that principle throughout all debates, then discussion wouldnt exist.

Well, as you asked if people had nothing better to spend their money on, it sounded to me like you thought you had a say in it.
    You don't.

It depends on what aircraft I'm travelling in but I like to pay for a seat around the middle to rear of a plane and near an exit in case it crashes.

    You probably have too.... so?

Possibly, but not some that involve calling people who choose to select where they sit and who with, or those that choose so be speedy boarders to make sure they keep their hand luggage with them 'snobs'! Their money, their choice. If I choose to buy a new car or a new 55" TV every year it doesn't make me a snob. Materialistic maybe, but not a snob!

Is this a wind up? This has got to be the worst seat ever. Are you trolling?

You may think that, but those seats are in the zone where you are more likely to survive a crash.

It's clear - at least to me - that your posts on this thread and others are designed to be antagonistic and/or confrontational so I will leave you to it.
