It's a regular feature on Ryanair flights since introducing their policy of "random" allocation. The pre-flight seat barter.seatbeltnoob wrote: »I haven't flown in a while, do people have the cheek to ask to swap seats with someone like this?
Easyjet still seem to allocate you together by default - just flown with them and seats allocated together both ways as always...0 -

I've never paid for seat in advance and yet always managed to get them together as long as checked in as soon as it opens. The only time we were separated was when I forgot so checked in 24 hours later. Still we got two seats together and the other one the row in front.
This included Ryanair flights last year.0 -
Ryanair changed their policy earlier this year, now they're allocated "at random".I've never paid for seat in advance and yet always managed to get them together as long as checked in as soon as it opens. The only time we were separated was when I forgot so checked in 24 hours later. Still we got two seats together and the other one the row in front.

And there are also several reports of Jet2 splitting up passengers on the same booking.0

Have BA changed their policy? I was sure when I flew with them a few times last year I was able to select seats for free upon check in (cost prior to check in), but last weekend we were unable to change seats upon check in for free, it would have been £11 each, so we stuck with what we were allocated.0

Was this a "hand baggage only" fare? If so, you get what you are given. On a normal fare, you can still change seats AFAIK.0 -
