For Aisle seat lovers

Further to the thread I posted earlier about Aisle and Window seats, here's a recent experience I had on a full Emirates Airbus A380 from Dubai to LGW which left Dubai during the wee hours...
When I booked I chose to sit close to the rear of the aircraft and chose aisle seats for me and the wife.....my seat was 85H, and hers 85G. Seat configuration was 3-4-3.
Great I thought.:)
When I got to my seat I was a bit surprised to see a little boy, no more than 2 in Seat 85K [window seat]. His dad was the lone parent, and sat next to me in the middle seat, 85J.
No sooner had I fastened my seat belt, the dad asked if I could allow him past to take his son to the toilet.....no problem.
Once in the air with the seat belt sign still lit, the dad asked me to allow them past me.....I pointed out the illuminated sign.
In the next hour I let them past me twice more.....at this point on an 8 hour flight I decided to ask the dad if it might be better if I sat in 85K, and then he and his son could get to the toilet without bothering me.
The dad said that the boys eat [85K] was wet.....probably done while the seat belt light was on.
The flight was full, so me moving wasn't an option. I had to just suck it.
During the next 7 hours I was disturbed at least hourly by dad and son.....not much fun.
Any comments on how the situation could have been avoided? I'd have thought that allocating the dad and son either D and E seats, or F and G seats would have been sensible.
Bottom line about aisle seats being best doesn't always work.

Swop seats with your wife.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
If the aircraft is 2-X-2 configured and two are travelling together, I go for the 2 at the window.
If 3-X-3 configured and two are travelling together, I go for 2 in the middle section, one aisle and the other next to the aisle seat.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
Your post is exactly why I always book a window seat. Sorry! I've usually got my hoodie folded into a pillow and am fast asleep before take off. Honestly haven't used the toilet on a flight for 20yrs.0

Absolutely.....providing they're still available. If 3-X-3 configured and two are travelling together, I go for 2 in the middle section, one aisle and the other next to the aisle seat.
And from now on so will I.:)0 -

I'm that person who has to keep going to the toilet, & I like to move about a bit so an aisle seat's a must for me.
You could always ask if there's any emergency exit seats in future, then you can move about freely & wont have to move unless there's an emergency.
Maybe take a pot as extra luggage on your next hol Pete, you can put your phone, wallet, belt, watch ... in it.0 -

No they don't. Someone I know had to sit on a bin bag and blanket kindly provided by the cabin crew when he was the next person on a full flight with a wee soaked seat from the previous journey! Yuk!!0 -
