Unfortunate experience with the toddler. I'd have said that if the dad knew his boy needed to go so often (sounds like he was being potty trained) then they should have tried to book with easier access to the toilets. Obviously they could only book if available.

I'll stick with booking aisle seats when I can though. I just feel less claustrophobic and I like the freedom to get up when I want without bothering anyone else, especially if they're fortunate enough to be asleep.

Never recline my seat in economy, and it depends on the distance between rows in business (when I'm that lucky). I can sleep on a clothes line, and I'm 5'3", so just curl up against the window. I find it cosy.

No they don't. Someone I know had to sit on a bin bag and blanket kindly provided by the cabin crew when he was the next person on a full flight with a wee soaked seat from the previous journey! Yuk!!

They may not have spare seats on board but they are easily replaced at their destination as the seat cushions are only velcroed down.

Lets hope someone mentioned it to the flight attendant rather than the next occupant finding out themselves.

Just had to drag this comment back up because I feel like you put a hex on me with it. Flew from Athens to Zurich yesterday, and for only the second time in my life, I seriously wanted to slap a fellow passenger. Luckily, a steward kind of beat me to it with a hefty dose of public humiliation.

The flight was full. I had a window seat and my OH had the middle seat. The couple on front of us could easily have physically occupied a row to themselves, and it really brought home to me why some airlines flights try to charge larger passengers for 2 seats. The husband was a big chap, but he took the window seat and stayed put for the entire flight. His wife, however, decided to recline her seat during the meal service. I'm not thin by any stretch of the imagination, but felt like Twiggy compared to this woman. Then just as the coffee was served, she turned around in her seat to face my OH and spent the rest of the flight kneeling backwards on the seat and hanging over the headrest with her face about 6 inches from his whilst he was reading. The sudden jolt of her changing position knocked my OH's coffee over onto his tablet. The woman laughed. Never said sorry and spent the next 40mins in that position, despite three calls from the cabin crew to sit down as the flight began it's final descent. Only on the fourth call did she sit down.

Once we were at the gate, a member of the cabin crew came over to the woman, and very calmly but firmly, read her the riot act. Her response... "I can't sit for long. I have back ache." The steward was less than impressed... "I am sorry for you but I have to ensure the safety of all the passengers, and whilst you are not in your seat during landing, you are a danger and a hazard!". :T

Why didn't you take 2 of the 4 ? Nobody to disturb you. just your wife.
That would always be my choice

Middle seat is often said to be the Devil's elbow. LOL.

But to me it is ideal. I only have to let one person out, and disturb one person.

Think about that. Talking about short flights!

Transatlantic with OH it has to be two, four config. Only need to kick him awake!

The OP said the seating was 3-4-3
In that case it would have made sense to take 2 seats from the 4.
The other 2 would have gone out the other side, so no-one to disturb you

I get it now but with the post about the passenger sitting/kneeling on her seat and the seat reclined, this would make no difference which seat you were in ( assuming that the idiot was infront of your seat )
I would have asked her to turn round or called the flight attendant and asked to be moved.
