Yuk. Medication induced nausea hit last night, so was still awake at 4.15am trying to convince myself that I didn't need to get up and puke all over my nice, clean toilet. Still feel queasy now.
Himself is blissfully ignorant of this.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
We're back and ready to fight another day - unofficially, but the consultant seemed happy. Although I think I might have aged a couple of years overnight  Hospital were great, and did everything they could to reassure us. Thank you ladies for your kind thoughts. X
I think we might be off for more retail therapy soon - window shopping only definitely this time. It's not my idea of fun, but we need to let off steam. Cleaning windows just ain't going to cut it today!0 -
Just catching up with the Fred - heaps of posivibes directed where needed. Special (((HUGS))) for Fayolle & DD, Dizzy, Valli and special anti-puking vibes for Jojo.
I've managed to construct a Shepherd Spy ready to cook for tonight's dins, and the BM is on, but that's about the lot for today.
I knew continuing to garden til I physically couldn't push the trowel into the earth any more wasn't a good idea. When oh when will I ever learn to pace myself??
And we had Mr LW's pal over last night, which is always stressful (he's a very nice chap, and has never done me any harm, it's just I don't "do" visitors). I didn't even have a dog here to be able to take for a "garden break" to have 5 minutes to compose myself when I started feeling panicky.
Onwards and upwards, though; I have dug out the cardigan I was working on last year (!) - I got as far as starting to knit the button band, and sort of lost the will to live. So now I'm going to make myself finish it before I start on my next cross stitch piece.
I think a quiet afternoon is in order; I need to be functional by 10:00 tomorrow morning, ready to receive Fudge for his weekend stay.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Aaaah. Not happy. DH has come back from seeing his consultant..who isn't happy with him. They've now stopped oral Methotrexate, it wasnt bringing his white cells down..they keep climbing. And he is now on injections of this. Plus he has some sort of steroid spray for his rashes all over his body. Hopefully this will stop them from weeping. Now it looks like there will be countless numbers of people involved in DH's care. We now have the dermatologist, heomotologist and Macmillan involved. With a side effort from our GP .. Ireally thought we were knocking this stuff on the head as he's looking so well. But it's very resistant for some reason. Now I think he'll notice a difference in how he is feeling now in injection form of this icky chemotherapy drug. It's so not fair!!!!!Mortgage Free as of 20.9.17Declutter challenge 2023, 2024 🏅 🏅⭐️⭐️

Oh gods, Natty poor Dave, and poor you. So I assume this is the same stuff Jojo has now? And you're right, it's not fair. Life isn't fair, but they don't tell you how to cope with the unfair stuff. *Sigh* if there was some way to take it all away, hun, I'd do it in a cold second. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0

You just bought a tear to my eye with your words LW..thank you for your words honey.
I'm not sure if it's the same thing as Jojo has..Dave has Acute Myeloid Leukaemia...which he is struggling with coming to terms with. I just wish it would go away..Mortgage Free as of 20.9.17Declutter challenge 2023, 2024 🏅 🏅⭐️⭐️

Not the same condition, maybe, but I think the medication is same/similar name as Jojo mentioned.
It always amazes me that a medication developed for one thing turns out to be useful for something entirely different; hydroxchloroquine was originally developed as an antimalarial, and now it's commonly given as a disease-modifying drug for lupus!
I told Mr LW off for nodding off in front of the pc again, so he's now turned it off and is dusting the lounge. :A
Oh yes, I forgot to mention, the pc was making a funny noise last night, so we've had the side off and evicted the dust bunnies today.
And I fear I'm mithering rubbish here - too tired to think straight, so i'd better go away and find something useful to do.:DIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
and RA Lamewolf; I took it (hydroxychloroquine) which meant regular hospital visits to check my sight was unaffected. I now self-medicate with quinine. In tonic. With gin;)
Just done some ironing..and some paperwork. Excellent progress. V pleased with self.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Yup, it's a lower dose of the same medication - it's more effective when injected than in tablet form, whatever the dosage is, so it often means either the same dose will have more effect or a lower dose (and hopefully lesser side effects) will have the same or better response.
I'm taking it for my now rediagnosed Psoriatic Arthritis - used to be told it was Rheumatoid, but I actually managed to get seen by a smart GP when I had a massive, huge, all body attack of Psoriasis for the first time - the new diagnosis makes perfect sense as I've previously failed to respond or progress in the way that is expected for RA and the presentation/sites affected are more consistent with PsA - it's thought that RA doesn't affect the back, hips or tendons where I've had problems with all of them for years, for example, so didn't get particularly effective treatment (or any, more to the point).
Tried hydroxychloroquine years ago - came out in full witchy warts all over my hands and meant my fingers all split and bled from around the nails, too, but no obvious reduction in disease activity.
I think discovering the other uses happened often by chance - people being treated for something else started reporting that they had a reduction in symptoms of x, y & z. Even thalidomide can be used to treat a particular autoimmune condition, but I expect that one was found from studying the drug's new interactions and then extrapolating to alternative uses.
Went to chemist. Flu jabs sorted. Amazing how quickly thing changed when I turn up and present the treatment booklet and the relevant page of the NHS advice on the matter.
Now off to a psychobilly gig. Going to perch at the back and try to not look as peaky as I feel.
Lucosade is probably going to form a large part of my diet for the time it takes to get used to the stuff. If I ever doI could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0
