Ninety mins spent decluttering carp from the front garden - myosotis seedlings all over the place; groundsel; spurge (which I am allergic to); bindweed - you name it. For two pins I'd have the ruddy lot Astroturfed. :cool:If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0

Valli... space made
Washing out again
Box of ebay stuff washed and disinfected after I caught the naffing cat peeing in it.. she is disgusting!!
Nail fix appointment made for tomorrow.
OH is after going in to college tomorrow to work on our new front door.. has hasn't had a day at home for nearly 2 weeks... does it make me a cow saying I want him to stay home with me for a bit? I do want the door doing but the whole point of him changing job was so he could go to college (tomorrow is extra time) as well as work and see me and have normal sleeping hours.. somehow I seem to be doing so much more!
Tax credits have just given me an 'extra payment' (of £400) then in the same letter told me they are reducing our payments (by £7) because we have been overpaid (by £800).. does that make sense to anyone because I am utterly baffled by it! I swear they pluck numbers out of thin air to use.
My throat is hurting.. it isn't sore it just hurts.. what are the bets I have been infected by the snot riddled baby and am not getting a cold but getting silly tonsils instead? I was going to my mothers to drop a present off for my sisters dog but my stepdad is having cancer treatment so I daren't take him our germs.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Well, I have certainly been MIA, but I see there are plenty of names here I recognise.
Time to return to the fold - if you'll have me. Going to try to have a catch up, collect all the jobs from this week, and make some of them mine next week.
Anyone want to give me a summary of what I have missed? Apart from a lot of fluff?Work is not my Hobby0 -
Massive front windows (well, the biggest panes because I wasn't about to start balancing on the windowsill to reach the little top ones) all clean and shiny, along with the crud off the frames and sills. Himself helped by moving the TV & glass unit out for me whilst I wrangled Idiot Cat out of helping.
Idiot Cat then jumped up and misjudged the distance of an open window, ending up dangling half in and half out, then fell out the window into the windowbox, much to the delight of the passersby. I left him out there wailing plaintively for five minutes until Himself took pity upon him and opened the front door, at which point IC decided he was absolutely fine and there wasn't a problem. Until Charlie, the giant soppy black lab/staff cross that lives around the corner, wandered into view and wanted to say hello to the small, stripey, angry 'dog' on the front path. Then he decided to come inside rather quickly.
Thought that the methotrexate hadn't had any effect on me this time, but after twenty minutes, I couldn't stand up any more as I felt sick and dizzy. So I've now been plonked back on the sofa with a cuppa whilst he sorts out tickets for various gigs this weekend.
Was rather irritated by one thing today, though. Because I'm on Methotrexate, I qualify for a free flu jab - and going by the last bout I had when I was too immunocompromised to have the jab, I am willing to take the risk of it not working. And because I'm on it, Himself qualifies for a free one for the first time - as his best friend died two days before their shared 14th birthday party from complications arising from flu (the anniversary of which is coming up next week), he's very keen to have one as well, especially as he's seen how ill I was last time. So Himself trundled off to the chemist round the corner - only to be told that it's not specifically listed, so I don't need a flu jab and what's more, he doesn't.
If I didn't feel so woozy, I'd be round there right now, asking at which point methotrexate stopped being classed as a chemotherapy medication, when steroids stopped being classed as steroids, when taking drugs to weaken my immune system stopped being classed as having a weakened immune system, why living with somebody with those things stopped meaning somebody living with someone with those things and, what's more, not only do I not fancy spending a night or two in A&E on oxygen again, when precisely did the NHS guidelines of using clinical judgement to give free flu jabs to anybody not specifically on the list who is likely to suffer worse side effects of influenza change to mean 'if your precise condition isn't on the list, we aren't going to do it'?
Naturally, they told him he could have a flu jab there and then if he paid for it. :mad:I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
*Healing vibes* Kazwookie. I've also got the fashionable lop-sided look from a jab and filling this afternoon but fortunately no infection.
I hope whatever ails you is sorted out and stabilized really quickly, Jojo.
Well done to Dancemum's DS2 for behaving well at the tournament, and congratulations on doing well in the game.
I was just thinking about you today Mrs MP. I still have something in my bag you gave me last year ....
(((Hugs))) Valli. It seems whenever you cross paths with that gentleman he behaves badly.
I hope it goes well in Italy, Frodders.
I've been so busy today all the flying I've managed is loading the DW and running it, but that's better than letting it all fester, isn't it?Better is good enough.0 -
I'd be happy to buy some wool off you, I knit for various charities and good causes so it will be used.
Hope every one is well.
Literally just in from work long day 8.30-6 for the rest of the week so I batch cooked Monday so that we can eat every night.

*remove bunch of stats re flu 'vaccine' and ineffectiveness of the nasal spray (read CDC data from every country except ours, ours lies and is based on data from 3 health authorities years ago)*
Will the nurse at the GP surgery not do them? Our surgery has 'flu clinics' where you can get them done.. and should get them done.. they are supposed to be given in a medical setting by medically trained personnel according to the black triangle on the literature and manufacturer recommendations. What if you had an anaphylactic reaction or respiratory distress?
It should absolutely not ever be given in schools.. they are places of education not a place for untrained people to given medical treatments!!.. makes me so mad!
Yes the various CDC sites provide my favourite reading material .. *puts nerd hat back in the drawer*LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

We're both adults, so the nasal vaccine stats don't apply.
I am aware of the risks of having the vaccine and the risks to me personally as being immunocompromised. I also have vague memories of how ill I have been with flu when not vaccinated or immunocompromised, time spent in A&E on oxygen, etc, Himself remembers more, because he was the one who took a week off work last time, making sure I continued to breathe and wasn't collapsed on the floor in a puddle of my own waste (he had to carry me to the bathroom) - and one of my friends went from being a marathon runner to using a mobility thingy after having flu last season, not to mention Himself's loss of his best friend from it.
If there is a ten percent chance that having the jab will stop me - or him - from going through that again, considering I work in a school, so am surrounded by roughly 675 vectors of infection with an, at best, dubious grasp of personal hygiene, I am willing to take that risk, compared to an almost 100% chance of becoming ill enough from flu to warrant hospitalisation.
I inject myself weekly, standing in the kitchen between the cooker and the back door. It's a doddle. Being done in a pharmacy with access to anti-anaphylaxis medication is preferable to me than sitting in the GP surgery surrounded by people who are coughing and spluttering virii all over the place. If I could get hold of the vaccine itself, I'd do it myself without hesitation (but recognise that this isn't legal, feasible or possible). And if they'd had appointments available at any point in the last month at the GP, we wouldn't be bothering with the chemist, as I would have gone in as the first patient of the day after the cleaners had been in and before the majority of coughers and splutterers had contaminated the premises.
We're also on half term at the moment. I'm doing this to try to minimise my risks of becoming seriously ill again, it's nothing to do with schools or infants.
I'm huffy because the pharmacist wasn't able to understand their own guidance material to give it for free, but was prepared to give it if they were paid. I shall go to the next one along in the morning and I'm pretty certain that it won't be a problem. If they try the same, then they shall be on the receiving end of my chemo-drug taking wrath, followed by a quick phone call to my clinic where the Consultant will be invited to discuss with the pharmacist what is legally required of them as a condition of receiving NHS funding. :cool:I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Hi flyfriends x
Slept in for work this morning, the alarm had been going off for an hour and a half before I heard it! Got to work in time but I've chased my tail all day.
Flywise I've tidied DDs room, stuck a washing in and made a pasta dinner. Just waiting for DD getting dropped off from the dancing then I'll do all the washing up at the one time.
I intend to be in bed by half 8 at the latest tonight!I'm not a muggle...I'm just magically challenged0 -
This week is testing my motivation, thanks for all your support and encouragement.
Tidy bits still tidy
Fire cleaned out every morning if it had been lit the night before
Living room, kitchen and playroom vacuumed
Living room and stairs dusted
Washing up to date, washed, dried, ironed and put away
Large pot of chillie cooked, some eaten, plenty put in freezer
Been for a walk with neighbour and listened to her.
So far I have not progressed in the house but will change the bedding for DD2 tomorrow and put in WM, going to pick her up this weekend so it must be done!
One side effect of Flying in the house is that I am more conscious of what I'm eating and drinking and the result is I have eaten better, drunk a lot more water and a lot lot lot less wine! Have also been trying to walk more, both by going for walks and by using free parking which is 10 - 15 minutes walk from work.
Still a couple of days left to get some more bits done.
Onwards0
