However, there aren’t two direct debits on this account - is that a problem? Or am I okay to set up two direct debits with the new Yorkshire account to meet the criteria to get the £250?
Thanks
Hi
The T&Cs say:
The account must have two Direct Debits, both of which meet all of the following criteria:
a. They are transferred as part of the switch or set up in the 62 days following the completion of the switch;
b. They must be paid from your account within the 62 days following the completion of the switch; and
c. They must not be cancelled before we have made the payment of £250 into the account.

Is it possible to open their current account for the incentive but use their Payment Transfer Service to set direct debits up, without having to close my old current account (lots of savings etc which are part thru!)
Would that be acceptable for the £250 or do you have to do a total switch... i.e close old account and get them to switch dd's?
Thanks!
I think there is a choice to do that, but you have to transfer the direct debits yourself, not the switching service, I had that choice when I was in.Thanks to all the competition posters.0 -
Can you do the "B" account if you've previously had a Yorkshire bank switching bonus? Terms are a bit woolly, I understand you couldn't do Clydesdale and then Yorkshire but is the B account different?
I believe if you've had a previous incentive to open an account, you can't get this one as well.Thanks to all the competition posters.0 -
Can others confirm with certainty that #3 is correct, i.e. that the two DDs can be setup on the Clydesdale account after it has been opened and do not need to have existed previously on the sacrificial account being switched?
Elsewhere on the thread, and from what I remember, yes you can switch two D/D's manually, however, they have to have been paid out within the 62 days as well as being set up.Thanks to all the competition posters.0 -
I managed to get all set up with this last night with no problem. I already have access to CB online with joint accounts, but we had switched a long time ago to BoS. I had recently set up my own bill paying account with four D/D's and one S/O, so have switched that to them using their full switch service, and will transfer money between accounts next week when paid.
This is the first time I've done this switching and without even getting paid yet, I'll be tempted to move again in the near future.Thanks to all the competition posters.0 -
@mt99 yes that's what has started to worry me lol, def don't want to be missing out on 250 quid!
Think I will send another grand over today just to be sure(my switch went through on the 17th Oct)mortgage free 3/10/12:)0 -

Point 4a from your link regarding the DD aspect: They are transferred as part of the switch or set up in the 62 days following the completion of the switch;
To me, I read that as they don’t have to be active on the account that is switched.0 -
MSE reports that this offer has been suspended due to volume of (MSE-stoked) demand, as per https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/banking/250-bank-switch:Mega £250 bank switch update
Clydesdale, Yorkshire and B have "temporarily" suspended applications as their sites can't handle the huge demand, as we warned. They tell us they're urgently working on a fix. Try the links below in case it's sorted, but we've also listed alternatives if you can't apply and are desperate to grab switching cash ASAP.
£250 switch links: Clydesdale Bank*, Yorkshire Bank* and B Account*
Other up to £200 to switch bonuses, incl HSBC, First Direct, M&S: Via our Best Bank Accounts guide.0 -
Ridiculous.
MSE posts about the promotion and the site gets hammered. MSE then posts that the applications have been suspended due to their promotion but posts the links again anyway and encourages people to try again 'just in case' it works.0 -
I have an old Bank of Scotland current account which is still active but I haven't used it in years, if fact I don't think I've ever used it (years ago our local branch manager asked us to open one as a favour to meet sales targets!). It shows up in my online banking but I don't think I have a debit card for it.
The Clydesdale T&C's state that you must provide the following info during the application process:
- "your old debit card expiry date and PAN number - this is the long 16-digit number on the front of your card".
Am I scuppered if I don't have / can't find my debit card for the account being switched?0
