The service provided with this supposed switch is perhaps the most laughably bad of any that I have ever experienced in years of switching.

Spend pots of money on a flash website. Of course it goes down immediately, unable to cope with utterly predictable volumes of applications. Do they sort it? Like hell they do. Oh no. Instead, when you try to make a new application, it won't tell you, telling you you have already made one, and to log in instead. Except that you haven't, because the login details you put in never got accepted. Cue six attempts to get through on the phone, with not a sniff of ever getting answered.

The service at this bank is so laughably bad that quite honestly I wouldn't want an account with them anyway. Simply embarrassing. They are manifestly out of their depth.

    Avoid.

Applied, completed and approved in 20 minutes, didn’t have to upload ID, got debit card 2 days later. Fantastic service, well done B.

Look forward to that easy £250

Thanks guys I have been struggling to open the Yorkshire Bank version of B, but it was still recognising me as a customer even though I closed my YB account 2 years ago. I took the advice on here and applied for the Clydesdale version and result. Two accounts opened ( me and OH ) - hopefully £500 will be coming our way soon.

Having had a play with the B app it’s actually seems pretty good. Very much like the new startup banks in appearance and feature set.

I admit I had never heard of it until this offer was promoted.

If you try to apply and it says you are already an existing customer and you need to log in, which you cant do, run through the application process again but select the other bank.

i.e. If you selected Yorkshire the fist time round, select Clydesdale this time. It then sees you as a new customer rather than an existing one.

That worked — so thank you — but I got the dreaded “we need more time to look at your application” screen.

    Even more furious now!

    (I want my £250!)
  • i had the same problem. i think i have set up b account as i have email with 7 attachments including terms and conditions , but i never got to a part to actually switch or give any switch details. my account is also now locked

I've signed up me and my husband for the B account - joint.
However, despite that going through smoothly it never asked me my Switch Details or information for the account I wish to switch.
    Anyone else experienced this?

Otherwise it's been smooth, and I can login to internet banking and the app no problem - just concerned it isn't going to switch our other joint account.........

    Thanks in advance,

If you've not had a welcome email you're prob still in process & needs completion.

Go to the login page and use the 'login to retrieve application' and select current account type from the current account dropdown and work through it... see where that takes you.

With thanks!!! to soulsaver. I was the same and his suggestion worked for me now switching

  • Think I've done mine successfully now, including the switch. Told me to register for internet banking and the app straight away but they haven't sent me an account number so I can't, will have to wait until my debit card arrives. Think I'll have a go at switching the wife's account now.

My details were displayed on-screen at the end of the process. It was headed:

Congratulations, your account's now open. Almost done now. You'll be needing this information. Got a pencil?

Did you not get this screen?
  • Doh!

Yeah, I did, just got the activation code. Thanks.
  • After submission, im asked which of 5 address i am associated with? I'm not associated with any of them?
