If they are stupid enough to be doing cash in hand then they aren’t going to worry about issuing payslips.
What’s with all the cash in hand posts recently?0 -

That's what I wrote earlier in the thread.
Where are all these cash in hand jobs?
And quite right. There won't be any payslips in this scenario.0 -

I'm not counting on being able to get a payslip. I guess I'll have to invoice them, which unfortunately I know absolutely nothing about.0 -
You might have trouble invoicing them if they dont take people on as self employed as a rule. The company I worked for employed certain staff as self employed. You really do have to find out whether your role is as an employee or if its self employment.0

You can’t just choose to be employed or self employed. It’s determined by the terms of your engagement. HMRC have an employment status tool you can use but to be honest I wouldn’t want to get involved with a business like this. If they refuse to folllow the correct procedures for this what else are they doing wrong?0 -

I don't have a contract of any kind with them. I come in, I work, they pay me cash out of the till or whatever, and I go home. I guess I'm not technically an employee. All I really need to know is what the council will require from me. Do I need to fill in a form telling them more or less how much I will usually earn?
Yes. If you wish to continue to claim HB then you will need proof of earnings, if you are going to pay your own rent then just write in telling them you are now working and no longer wish to claim.,0 -

So, paid cash, no payslips: This employer is clearly operating illegally. Don't work for them, work for someone legitimate & honest.
Think about it: They are ignoring employment & tax laws. They will do exactly the same for health & safety issues. Probably rip off their customers and ignore all workers rights. What help do you think you'll get if you get hurt, injured?
Regardless of where they are from, ethnicity, whatever, we don't want employers like this.
Don't work for them.
Report them for tax fraud..

And yes, of course, even if you worked for them you would legally be required to report pay etc to JC+ & HMRC.. Don't do it!0 -
What has ethnicity got to do with this issue?0
-
Exactly, my point: Same as hight of employer, fat or thin, male or female, left or right-handed, we don;t want employers like this on the fiddle...0

The OP would not have to report earnings to the job centre if they signed off.0
