Anyone up for the new Iphone X?

Albeit an Android fanboy these days, I confess I owned an original iPhone 3G a fair few years ago now. My biggest complaint was not only the call quality, but the signal in general. I remember standing in Stafford high street, and swapping the SIM card from the iPhone into a Samsung Galaxy S1 and noticing an immediate improvement in signal strength. There were various deadspots while using the iPhone, that subsequently worked okay with the Galaxy.

To be fair, I would imagine iPhone's are much better these days and the issue with call quality isn't isolated to the iPhone. I owned a Nexus 4 which was replaced twice under warranty because the earphone suffered from electrical static when on the phone.

It amazes me sometimes how companies can put their own take on things.


My Moto G4 which I love (I won't be buying any iphone at any price) has a 5.5 inch screen, and on the reviews done it did say that this size of a phone can be a little unwieldy to hold in hand, say compared to a 5 inch screen.


Howwever Apples new iphone x apples says that,

"With iPhone X, the device is the display. An all‑new 5.8‑inch Super Retina screen fills the hand and dazzles the eyes"


The point being that was is seen as a drawback with the Moto G4 is seen as a redeeming feature with the new iphone

Not amazing its standard practice for companies to sell their products and promote key features they think a customer may well like. It's also standard for one person to see a device as too big or unwieldy and for another person to see that device as the perfect size for them.

Your moto G4 is smaller than the iPhone + series which have been out since 2014.

The plus series of the iPhones come in at 158mm x 78.1mm with a 5.5inch screen. The iPhone X comes in at 143.6mm x 70.9mm with a 5.8inch screen. So you can easily say the screen fills the hand as your getting more screen in a smaller body.

(for ref the moto G4 is 153mm x 76.6mm 5.5inch screen)

I think Apple are the only ones who release old technology as the latest and greatest breakthrough though ..
and somehow manage to convince their fanbois that this is worth spending way more than anything else on !!
Its like some kind of jedi mind trick !!


I bet their marketing departments bonuses are epic !!

I'm all for people getting advice or help on tech issues or what product they should buy based on their needs when they ask for it. Also I'm all for people choosing to buy whatever tech product they want as it's their choice to make.

But I do find it fascinating that you continue to get into a p***ing competition about specs or try to explain why someone else would buy something that does not fit your narrow mind of what is acceptable.

At no time have I said apple products are better than Samsung and also not try to label the million of Samsung customers as fanboys or that for some unknown reason they are being tricked.

I'm not defending Apple as you will see many posts on here where members won't touch a iPhone with a barge pole, that's there choice and more power to them. However I will reply to posts that might help someone understand a technical problem or in this case marketing. Also I will reply to posts that are directed at me and unfortunately that is mainly you!

I simply pointed out that better specs are already available at a lower price, and then expressed my awe of the marketing guys at apple being able to whip conumers into a frenzy so that they are willing to ignore this fact and drop a grand on this old spec tech . !!


You seem to be taking this rather personally ... Did you actually have a point ?

Yes I brought up specs of the new iPhone X in the context of the reason I was buying it and going to one device. At no point did I say the specs are better than Samsung or that it was yesterday, today or tomorrow tech or it was cheaper/exspensive.

^^ The iPhone X proudly boasts all the technology that Galaxy users have been enjoying for ages


I said before : Apple - yesterdays technology, at tomorrows prices, TODAY !!

This has nothing to do with the reason I am buying the iPhone X and has no relationship to the OP question or my answer.

By the way when someone responds to comments a person made or makes reference to someone's comments and they reply to those comments it's called having a discussion/debate. So I would say it's personal on that level in that I'm responding to YOUR comments.
