what about wrapping loads of coloured elastic bands around the tube and then filling the jar with coloured paper clips- although the tube might not be strong enough!

Made this today for the OH as part of his Xmas present...

I found the 365 facts on the web (took several days), pasted into Excel, printed them off and cut each one out and folded up (very tedious!!!), popped into the jar (£2.99 from Ikea) and added the label on the front. It's something for his desk at work. I'm really pleased with it and am doing the same for my dad for Xmas :D

Mary, I was amazed at how much space 365 little folded up bits of paper needed, glad I chose a bigger sized jar ;)

I bought these... http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/86130100. Thought they would be too big and that I'd have to take them back for smaller size :p
