Credit Card Reclaiming Discussion

I see that the template letters on reclaim credit card charges were last updated in 2009. Is it still possible to reclaim these charges ?0

I hope this is the right place. I'm just wondering if I even have the right to claim back my PPI - but it's a little more complex now.
I have two Barclaycards - a Platinum which I've had since 1995, and a normal one, which was actually an Egg card that became a bog standard Barclaycard when Egg were purchased. The platinum had, as far as I can remember, PPI on it since I got it, as I was only about 20 at the time and didn't even know you didn't have to have it on. I admit I didn't research it to see if I had to have it either. The balance at this time is £0.
The Egg/Barclaycard also has PPI on it but as I was made redundant last week, I am attempting to actually use the PPI to cover me until I get back to work as the balance on this card is high. I've got a Job Seeker interview and my claim regarding THIS card has been lodged. (It was while discussing this policy with their insurance company that I discovered my other card had a policy on it which dated back to August 1995)
Is there any point in me attempting to claim back the PPI on the Barclaycard Platinum? Over the years the balance has been up and down, as I've paid it off or move balances but at times, it's been as high as £4,000 - and I assume, payment protected at that time, which I have been paying for.
If I do start a PPI claim process, is that going to negatively affect the 'proper' claim on the other card?
I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place or has been answered many times. To be honest, I'm still recovering from losing my job of 22 years with about 6 minutes notice.
Many thanks.0 -
Hi I'm new here, but have been viewing the site for some time, but now I need some assistance please!
Can anybody advise me on what my next actions/options are regarding claiming back credit card charges from Lloyds TSB, Halifax, Capital One and House of Fraser?
I started the process back in March/April last year using the Stage One template letters and got the standard response that the £12 charges were fair and they quoted the OFT "would take no further action where charges were set at £12 or below". Lloyds have offered me a token refund of £76.92 (I'm claiming £761.65). However this refund was first offered back in March last year and they said I had 6 months to contact the FOS if not happy and the letter can be taken as a final reply. That was the end of April last year (some 12 months ago), so what's my position now? I have the same situation with Halifax and Capital One.
Can I now go to stage two i.e. letter before court action, as my complaint has not changed, it's just 12 months later?
Any advice would be gratefully received!
I would think that because it's well over the 6 months period, not only can you NOT go to the FOS but the banks will have closed their files on your claims too. You will need to do new claims.
Given the Lloyds offer was much less than you claimed, use the experience you have gained from your first claim to make your next one stronger!0 -
Hi,
I hope someone can help, I have a CC Halifaxone, and have been charged over limit and late payment fees,
I want to start the process of claiming them back, however, I bank with the halifax and have savings accounts with them,(not thats there's any money in them yet),
Will they close my accounts or take the outstanding balance from my current acc if I start this process?
I am over my limit currently, and have finaly taken my head out of the sand, thanks to reading this site and the support on it, and am taking back control of my finances, I don't have any other CC, or bank acc at the mo, any advice would be welcome
Thanks

Help please! Hello, I am In the process of reclaiming credit card charges from capital one. They have offered to refund the difference in my charges but not the full amount owed. I want to take them to court rather than delaying things with the FOS (cap one have strung this out long enough already!) I am trying to fill out my particulars of claim mousing eh lain website using the MSE guide and template but it keeps saying it contains too many characters!? Is there any way of shortening it without leaving out any crucial information!? Many thanks in advance.0

Quick question!
I have successfully claim back just the £12 charges from Tesco and Mint for charges over the last 3-4 years.
I have also tried to claim just £12 charges back from, Egg - now barclaycard, MBNA, and Halifax - they have all truned me down after sending all the template letter, court action letter ect.
I have now filled in the FOS forms for each one and posted them off this morning.
My question is, has anyone successfully been able to use the FOS to claim back just the £12 charges?
Thanks
Hi,
I am just about to submit a claim to MINT. Did you reclaim with compounded interest, statutory interest or none at all? How long did the process take?0 -
Hi I'm new here, and would like some assistance please!
In July/August last year I was sent what I assume was a standard letter from the Halifax about PPI on my credit card and that I needed to act if I had been sold incorrectly. At that time we were moving house and I totally forgot all about it. Do you think I can now make a claim even though I am sure that letter said we had to act then or we would lose out (or words to that effect).
Thanks0 -
I've just sent off for my statements from MINT (have had the card since 2002 and just about to clear with a 0% card so thought now was a good time!).
Can I claim for credit card charges and PPI at the same time, or do I need to do them seperately?
Thank you.0 -

Based on the current success stories on this forum I would say go for it. If you have been mis-sold the ppi then you have nothing to lose by trying.0 -

If it were me I would do them separately to save any confusion.0
