  • Hi, I am thinking of reclaiming credit card charges after reading the guide, however I am a little confused as to whether I can do this. I'm thinking of reclaiming on a Natwest credit card I used to have, but paid off and cancelled at the start of this year. Can I definitely still reclaim on a closed card? Also, I still have a loan with Natwest and my current account is with them. If I reclaim, is there a chance they will close my other accounts? If they close the loan account, there is no way I could pay it off so I am worried about pursuing this. Any advice would be very welcome!
    Cheers

Yes you can definately claim away on the unfair Credit Card charges. The fact that you other accounts with natwest is immaterial. Should Natwest penalize your other accounts for reclaiming on your credit card would empower you greatly for a bigger complaint against them.

    Good luck
If you see a penny, pick it up, all day long you'll have good luck !!!!!! :D

    Hi.

I have sent off letters to 3 different credit card companies, these being mbna, capital one and barclaycard (£10 cheque sent with each one). All cheques have been cashed but as yet only barclaycard have forwarded statements so I can proceed with claim against them. The 40 days are up on Monday, what is my next step with mbna and capital one?

  • Hi, please can someone advise.

I got statements from American Express and not sure what can be claimed. I added up the following: over-limit fees, returned payment fees and late payment fees. It came up to £220. Is there anything else I missed? What is repayment protection plan or interest charges? Please help
  • Hi guys, I'm after a bit of advice here. I've claimed back charges myself in the past with no hassle and even done it for friends and family sucessfully but this letter I've recieved from Vanquis has me a bit stumped.

I've had the card a few years so I thought I'd see if I'd ever incurred any charges so I sent the DPA request a couple of weeks back and today I've recieved a letter with my charges.

Vanquis confirm that charges totalling £102 have been applied to the account since its been open. They're willing to refund the charges so long as I agree to my APR being increased to 59.4%! As well as a £25 annual fee being applied.

Surely this isn't right. If anyone could assist in what I need to be writing in my reply to get my money back but without these crazy hikes.

    Thanks!

  • Hi

I would like some advice regarding reclaiming charges.

I had a credit card for a number of years with MBNA. I got into some difficulty with the account and eventually MBNA placed the account with a debt collection company.
I had a good relationship with the collection company and when I was made redundant earlier this year negotiated a greatly reduced amount to clear the account, I paid this from my redundancy money and cleared the debt.

I have had success in the past claiming charges back from the Halifax and Barclays. Can I still claim back charges from MBNA even though I cleared the account with a reduced amount and the account now closed?

    Regards

Bank account charges or credit card charges?
Both are a yes btw however they would have the right to offset it against any amount written off.

Hi I had the same problem with Capital One (50 days after letter sent and cheque cashed) I phoned them up on Monday to find out why they hadn't sent anything out to me, they were very apologetic and I received what I needed today, away to work out what to claim back. You can go to the Information Commissioner but it may be worth a try phoning the credit card companies first. Good Luck

You need to start reclaiming the charges and furthermore if any debt collector writes to you, you need to tell them that the account is in dispute with the credit card provider.

http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/credit-card-chargeslink above is to the guide to reclaim them all.
