With the 6 years nearly up from the date of the first charge, would they strike it off as part of the refund seeing as its nearly up and by the time they sort it out it will be up?? Thanks0

hi
im in the process of reclaiming charges from Egg and have today received a letter with all the jargon about in the agreement charges would be added if I went over my limit etc etc. The letter also states that i pointed out in the letter that these charges are "penalties" and I have apparently not put forward evidence to support this allegation.
The letter also states that the OFT allowed Egg to charge people £12 instead of £20 in 2006, they must be daft as I didnt even have the card in 2006, I paid it off in 2005.
So basically they are willing to pay me £36!! in comparison to £200 and £77 in interest.
Im presuming I should be saying absolutely NO to this, as Im not willing to accept this ridiculous amount as they are taking the p**s!
What step should I take now?

ps - they also have just refunded £375 worth of PPI to me without any question!!0 -
I have just got my credit card charges from Lloyds TSB. I used the letter format on the MSE site. They are all for late charges but only go back as far as December 2007. Do I assume there were no other late charges before this time (I think I requested the last 6 years)? Can you reclaim for late charges?
What do I do now? The grand total on the statement is £80.00. What is the success rate for Lloyds TSB? Many thanks.:money:0 -
Hi
I have sent first letters to the credit card companies regarding charges, some have sent me holding letters do I wait until the date that they have put onto their letters or do I just go ahead and send the 2nd letters?
Thanks0 -

...I would ask you once again to supply me with a full breakdown of the costs to which you have been put by as a result of my breaches of contract; details of all actions required to make up these costs and an explanation of how you arrived at the sums charged.
If you refuse to comply with my request for a refund, then I request again, proof of all costs involved, in regards to your actual or liquidated losses involved in any breach of contract to which these charges relate with yourselves, and that these charges reflect your true costs in relation to the said charges, and are proportionate to the charges levied on my account, as defined in Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Regulations (UTCCR) 1999 Schedule 2 (e).
If you are going to say that there was no breach of contract and that these charges are for a service, then I will argue that you have attempted to restructure accounts in order to present events of default spuriously as additional services. I must remind you that the UTCCRs are concerned with the intention and effects of terms, not just their mechanism.
Moreover, if I am forced to revert to law, I will ask the county court to refund all the charges plus interest at the APR applied to the credit card; arguing that it is just and equitable that interest be repaid at this rate (rather than the lower statutory rate) because the money paid would otherwise have gone towards discharging the indebtedness under the credit card agreement.0 -

Hi
Sorry if this has been covered, but I used to have three cards with different companies, and I'm wondering if it is worth questioning charges that were levied in the past? (I have since paid off the cards in full, but never thought it was possible to reclaim charges - or parts of charges.)
Unfortunately I no longer have any details of the actual card numbers involved. However, of course I know which institutions I held the cards with.
Do I have any avenue to claim? I am prepared to pay for past statements etc, but will the companies involved be able to say they have no record as the cards are no longer current and I no longer have any details of the account numbers etc.
I apologise again if this has been covered, I didn't post this here without looking at the advice first.
Thanks in advance for any help.0 -

No. You are certainly entitled to claim from old & past cards. If you dont have any ref number / previous statement from these cards then your reclaim is merely going to take a little longer. No worries.
Either phone each provider and see if they will give you the acct number over the phone once you have satisfied whateever security questions they have for you or just add an extra paragraph into your reclaim letter explaining you no longer have details but they should be able to find you for under that name and address. If you see a penny, pick it up, all day long you'll have good luck !!!!!!0 -
Hi, I am thinking of reclaiming credit card charges after reading the guide, however I am a little confused as to whether I can do this. I'm thinking of reclaiming on a Natwest credit card I used to have, but paid off and cancelled at the start of this year. Can I definitely still reclaim on a closed card? Also, I still have a loan with Natwest and my current account is with them. If I reclaim, is there a chance they will close my other accounts? If they close the loan account, there is no way I could pay it off so I am worried about pursuing this. Any advice would be very welcome!
