  • Can someone advise me on a situation I am having with Capital One. I have requested my charges back from them which amounts to a total of £320.41 incl interest. I received a response from them stating that they would offer £128 to me which I declined. I am now concerned though as they write in the letter; 'If you would like to accept this offer, please sign and return the settlement form I've included. Once I get it back I'll contact Lowell to let them know the reduction in your debt'. I'm really worried about this as the debt was paid off earlier in the year in full!!! Does this mean any refund will get sent to this company instead of me? Has anyone had this before?

hi, am going for credit card charges reclaim but where it says to enclose cheque for £10 I hit a problem. Can you pay them by other means as I don't have access to a cheque book or know anyone with one.

Write back and tell them thanks but no thanks to the offer and point out the account is no longer with lowells as it is paid in full and if you have a closing statement from lowells enclose it.

    Should be fine :)

You can use a postal order, or if your account is active ask them to add it to the balance.

    Hi
I've recently returned after being away for four months and discovered on my return that Egg, I've an Egg Money account, have charged me four times, once a month for four months, for going over my limit. Aside from the first time, this was not due to any activity on my part (I hadn't used my card at all whilst I was away) but because my card was set to 'minimum repayment' and the way their system works meant that each time they charged it took the money from my other bank account, but too late, and caused me to be charged again the next month for being over the limit due to the charge. I think this is all very unfair, but I am unsure the best way to go about rectifying it. Specifically, whether I should complain that the three later charges are utterly unfair as they were caused by their system or take the line that all credit charges are unfair and demand a repayment of all of them or some combination of the two. Any advice or suggestions would be very much appreciated.

I'd go for a combination of the two - but I would complain very strongly about them taking your payments after the due by date ... are these payments DD's, SO's or auto transfers from a linked account ? Whats the agreement in respect of that ?

Sent in a request for statements from Natwest, when received there were just 2 charges of £18 from Sept & Oct 2002, I straight away sent a letter asking for this to be refunded, using Martins Calculator this came to £53.58. I received a letter from NW offering £12 which I refused. I then received another letter from NW saying there was in fact only one charge of £18 (I had sent a SAR and had received a copy of my credit card statements which showed 2 charges of £18) I pointed this out to NW. I have today received a letter from them offering £38.88 (which includes 8% interest) The interest from Sept & Oct 2002 totals £17.58 and they are offering me £2.88 what are they playing at?

They have only done 8% on the amount today, not 2002.

So do I write a letter to them pointing this out? or take the money and run?
  • i am helping my friend reclaim charges from capital one. they have not returned copies off all her statements saying they are unable to find them. please could somebody advise as to what our position is. Is this a breach of data protection by them and how do i claim for charges during this period , (its about 16 months ).
not including the missing charges they owe her nearly £1000 and have offered £152

    many thanks A
  • artemis- they dhould have details of the a/c help on file for DPA purposes for at least 6-7 years, i think.

looks like they've realiseda lot os due nack, and trying to wriggle out? report of information commissioner..

or try a request to Cap1 for them to write off the balance, as they say that no details are held..!?
