hi. newbie to forum.
after reading the posts on this forum for quite a while i decided to have a go at reclaiming my credit card charges, so far i have sent 1st template letters to capital one £982.02 inc interest they wrote back and offered £178 inc interest, barclaycard £317.91. they wrote and offered difference of £12 plus 96p int. marbles (for oh) claimed £346.64. they offered after 2nd letter £152 no int. capital one (oh account) £452.32 inc int they offered £32. barclaycard (oh) £624.02 inc int they offered £96 plus interest. All the above apart from marbles are about to get their 2nd letter. But worried about marbles, should i accept or go via f.o. any help would be greatfully appreciated. anyone had experience of marbles and how far they are prepared to go. Do i send them a 3rd letter or just go straight to f.o.
thanks.

After meaning to do this for ages, I have now set the ball rolling. My debt is with Barclaycard and is with a DCA - Credit Security Ltd.
I have also lost my account number.
First pleasant(ish) surprise bearing in mind the situation, I spoke to a very nice woman at CSL who was extremely helpful and told me my balance and settlement figure. I've been paying back for a couple of years, but never realised the amount and I've actually paid back about £2000...so it was nice to discover I'd made a bit of a dent in it.
Anyway, she kindly gave me my account number and I phoned Barclaycard. The guy I spoke to was also pretty helpful, however one thing I will say, they've obviously got wise to people phoning up for statements as he tried to fob me off with statements from April 04 to Nov 04 which was my last spend, explaining that later statements would show nothing but changes. However, I requested them anyway as obviously that's what I want! Anyway, couple of security checks later, he assured me I'd receive copy statements within a week or so.
Fingers crossed...Wannabee champagne girl...on a beer income.0 -
My Girlfriend and I both put in claims for our credit card charges even though both our credit accounts are now paid off and closed. We both got made offers and decided to accpet them. I phoned up and explained my account was closed and was told i could expect a cheque in the post with my refund which I received. My Girlfriend also did this but was told her complaint had to be moved up to the next level, since then she has been told the only way for her to get her refund is by having it paid back onto her account which as i mentioned no longer exisits!! Any ideas as to what steps she can take to resolve this matter, both our accounts were with HBOS if it makes a difference??0

Hi I have recently got into difficulty paying my store cards each month as well as everything else after losing my job.
I also put in a claim for all my PPI payments back and was refunded them back which I was very grateful for- thank you Martin !
I thought that the money they paid me back would bring me up to date with the monthly payments but they have said that they cannot use this money as a payment to my account and therefore am still in arrears is this right ?
Please can anyone give me a answer.0 -
Just received my letter re my charge claims. They have given me a goodwill gesture of £25.00 because they have been late in replying. I was originally reclaiming £725 plus interest. Their reply is "This is not a retrospective charge and as such we will not be refunding your charges". Do I send the next letter on Martins list?0

Around this time in 2006 I started the ball rolling to get my credit card charges back.
And the final letter I received from Capital One was their final offer, dated Jan 07. Which I promptly replied and declined.
If I would have carried on at that stage, it would either have been a complaint to FOS or take the court route. But I never done any.
So because it was nearly two years ago, would I have to start again?
Or will I complain to FOS now?
Thanks0
