Provider: Mint
Amount Reclaimed: £225
Amount they paid: £69
Wrote to Mint asking that they refund me for 8 late payment charges + interest using the templates from the MSE website. They came back quickly and offered the me the difference the charges and £12 + interest. While I was pleased at being offered some money as this was my first attempt at reclaiming charges, I've decided to push on and ask for the full whack.0 -

Please read this as I've copied it straight from the FOS website for you, keep going in asking for full whack......
"The further substantial increase in the number of disputes involving credit cards reflects the fact that we have continued to receive a steady stream of complaints about so-called "default charges" – applied by credit-card companies where a customer pays late or misses a payment, and sometimes where a customer exceeds the credit limit on the card.
No credit-card company has so far chosen to request a formal ombudsman decision on the merits of these cases. Instead, the companies have all preferred to settle the complaints informally by meeting their customers' claims. "RainbowLiberty0 -

Provider: MBNA
Amount Reclaimed: £265
Amount they paid: £265
The story:
Sent my £10 off to get list of charges which they promptly returned (even going to the extent of returning my cheque and getting the list for gratis). Sent off initial letter with charges plus interest. Initially got a return letter and cheque for £65 (this being the difference between the £25 charges and £12) noting that they disagreed with my argument etc. Immediately sent off 2nd template threatening court and 2 weeks later received balance for the whole amount claimed. Incidentally i calimed for both £25 charges and £12 pound charges plus interest and got all of them back.0 -

Provider: Tesco Finest
Amount reclaimed: £219.67
Amount the paid: £233.38
Sent first letter 21st April requesting a list of all late fees and over limit fees. Received info from them on 5th May. Sent letter requesting all fees be refunded to me on 10th May.
Got second letter back on 14th May telling me to get lost. Except they also included a letter to another customer refunding her her fees.
Called them 17th May and mentioned all this. Lady told me that their letter on the 14th May was a first offer, she also apologised for incluing someone else's info in my letter. She is sending me a letter today confirming refund of all charges.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Now for Cap One, Barclays, John Lewis, Citi cards.

Hi all,
I wonder if anyone can help, am pretty new to this site and have decided to try to reclaim credit card charges based on the success you guys have posted...
Long story short have had a credit card with Abbey (MBNA) for years, stupidly missed payments due to being very naive and youthful, thus being charged late fees and eventually over limit fees for quite some time. I would imagine it could amount to quite a tidy sum!
Was just wondering what impact this would have on credit rating and also relationship with the lender (not that I had any in the first place) - only ask is that my current account is still with Abbey although I know the credit card is with MBNA, I took it out through Abbey at the time?
Thanks all for your response if any...?0 -
Provider: Barclaycard
Amount Reclaimed: £252
Amount they paid: £274
Started off the process on 2nd April. First 3 letters from them stated they are looking at my complaint and will deal with it as soon as possible, each with a later date for resolution. Continued sending them template letters and they agreed to pay the full whack today with some extra to boot!0
