Wrote to the Royal Bank of Scotland asking for refund of £477.00 charges. had a letter offering £0, phoned them and said I was declining the kind offer but wanted it looked at again, then had a letter offering £466.00 :j. Happy days. Used Martin's letters for all correspondence. Very happy. Thanks for guidance

Barclays have just paid £1124 - asked for £900. This time didnt even have to send in a third letter. Many thanks MSE for helping me get back over £3000. However if we wernt given the charges in the first place, the last 4 years might not have been so stressful.

Pitty I had to go through the FOS shame on you HSBC !! took over a year to sort ! :mad:

I just received a letter from Barclaycard last night, I requested £433.42 (including 8% interest), they are paying up £370.19! Less than I expected, but I'm not bothered as it only leaves £30 on the card to clear.

Thanks to everyone on here for sharing their stories and inspiring me to write in the first place!

Like to say a HUGE thanks to MSE as just heard today that Barclaycard will be giving me £241 back. And after only one letter!!! Just waiting now for them to agree to the PPI claim we put in for at the sametime....

The story:


Sent letter 16th April asking for statements, which arrived very quickly, sent letter asking for refunds on 20th May, received letters 9th July stating that they would be refunding me the money. They have taken the money off my balance but as I only owe LPF £300 ish, they are refunding the difference into my bank account. RESULT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Still waiting for Barclaycard Goldfish to come up with an offer as for some reason they need more time!!!

Started the process off in late May, two letters later.....

Letter from Barclaycard settling my claim in full....

£600 charges, £214.38 interest at 8%

Just waiting for payment now as I no longer have any credit card and never will! cash is king.

Finally got around to wading through my old statements to work out what I felt I could reclaim. I didn't think I would even receive a reply from Barclaycard for ages, let alone confirmation that they are going to pay me back the full amount into my bank account!
They responded really quickly, I'm amazed and pretty flippin' chuffed! :j
Now in the process of writing to Capital One, Virgin and Santander so fingers crossed.....

MBNA tried ignoring me but I stuck to the timetable and templates. I sent the second letter which offered them reduced deal for replying in 14 days - got offer of more than I asked for originally and was immediately credited to my account. :j

I posted the letter on 27th July requesting a refund of all charges since 2002 plus 8% interest. I felt that asking for as much as possible gave me more scope for bargaining.

I received a reply today, 31st July, offering all charges for last six years plus 8% interest, to be paid to my credit card accounts. I am very happy with this as it was the very best I was hoping for. I have no problem with it being used to pay off my credit cards as it was what I planned to do with it anyway. That's the smaller one cleared completely and 20% from the other, an excellent result.

I also sent a letter to the Halifax yesterday requesting repayment of all current account charges since 2001 plus 8% interest using the grounds of financial hardship. Fingers crossed although I am expecting a battle with that one.
