A big thankyou to all of you who have posted here. It took me a while to read through all 51 pages of this forum but thankyou again.
I have scoured all forums for information on Marbles to no avail and so if anyone can help me out with details i would be most grateful.
Also if i ever meet Martin i will buy him a bottle of champagne and it will be a very good one too! :beer:Working towards being debt free by May 2011 under my own steam and then found this website and this may now actually happen by Christmas.

Alliance and Leicester / Santander Loan
Reclaimed £75 charges + £22 interest ie 3 x £25 letter charges.
Wrote in May, they replied immediately declining my complaint, emailed 6 times to which I was fobbed off then wrote back again 2 weeks ago with todays date as the deadline saying if I hadnt received a response by today i'd be going to the FOS.
Received a call 10 minutes ago to say they were not upholding my complaint but as a gesture of goodwill will refund me the amount I requested within 14 days and a letter is in the post.
EGG
£240 of £16 charges + £36 interest
Wrote in March - declined
Wrote again in April again declined with final response.
Wrote again in June giving them letter before action.
Wrote back again declining.
July issued mcol claim, failed to response so I win by default.
Giving them 28 days to pay before getting court bailiffs.
Will see though.0 -

Wrote off to Barclaycard on 9 August asking for £320 late fees and £130 interest going back over past six years for my Barclaycard.
To my suprise got letter yesterday and they coughed up the full amount without any fuss but as usual denying any wrongdoing or liability
Cheque will be with me shortly so right result
Many thanks to Martin and the rest of the contributors on setting out how straightforward this process is
Now just awaiting replies from 3 other card providers where I racked up similar charges
Good luck to all those still awaiting responses0 -

Claimed Fines - didn't get a chance
Offer - £240
Sent a SAR letter off on behalf of my brother on 9th August, without the £10 cheque. Received a reply acknowledging my letter and that they would be in touch on the 16th. This morning recieved a letter offering £240 along with a list of charges for £240!!
Absolutely fantastic website. Has made my brother see the light at the end of the tunnel. Now we're moving on to Aqua, Capital One and Barclaycard0 -

Nothing as of yet but if they don't play ball i may ask for contract rate interest which they have hiked to 33%!!!

Requested statement of fines incurred on 30th July
Received all statements on 16th August and i had actually, for once, been reasonably responsible with my finances as i had incurred no fines. Notwithstanding this they were charging me PPI which i did not agree to. Settlement letter received in post friday 20th August for £572.00 which was hastily signed and posted back next day recorded delivery!

All quiet on the Mint Front but i have a sneaking suspicion that i may have paid PPI on this card also.

I wrote to Barclaycard asking for a statement of all charges on my credit card, and got what looked like a standard reply asking me to send £10 and they would release the information.
However, they had clearly pre-empted my reason for asking, and forwarded my letter to their customer relations department, as within 2 weeks of receiving their initial letter(and without me sending them a cheque) I had received a schedule of charges going back 6 years, along with an offer to repay me the full amount of the charges (£520), plus £211.60 statutory interest.
I wrote back accepting, and within a further two weeks had £731.60 deposited in my bank account.
I hadn't even asked for any money back yet, but within 6 weeks of requesting a list of charges, I was £731.60 better off.
It would appear that Barclaycard know they have been in the wrong when they were imposing £40 charges on a monthly basis, so they gave in without any kind of fight at all.
It can be this easy, and it's well worth following the advice on this website. For the cost of a couple of stamps, it has to be worth a try.
Thanks MSE for guiding me towards this!0 -
Capital One owed me £168 in charges plus interest
sent the first letter from the templates and received a letter back from them to say they would investigate and would take 4 weeks.
Three weeks later had a letter with an offer for the full amount plus a little extra, so what more can i ask for!!! Absolutely amazing what a bit of patience can do thanks everyone0 -
I sent template letters off to Sainsbury's bank (2 cards), barclaycard, capital one & mbna. I asked for the diiference between what I'd been charged & £12 + 8% interest.
So far:-
Had letters off capital one & mbna saying they are looking into it & will reply within 14 days. Sainsbury's bank sent a letter saying all was fair etc; but they had deducted full amount i'd asked for to the cards. Biggest surprise was Barclaycard. I'd asked for £48 total charges (just 4 late charges) + interest, but as i only had statements going back 5 yrs also said i wanted to claim back the 6th yr too if there had been any charges. I got a letter within 10 days along with a statement of charges for the last 6 yrs. Total amount £246 + £60.13 interest & they said the full amount had been credited to my card! I wish i'd not put difference to the other cards now! Maybe if i'd asked for full charges i'd have got them!!
I am currently claiming ppi on 3 cards but as soon as that is sorted i'll be reclaiming charges on those too - the full amount!0 -
