hi all recieved a letter from barclaycard as i had submitted a request for charges refund, did not claim an amount as i had binned all the paperwork except a giro payin slip from years ago (2005).the letter said that although they believed the charges to be fair they would refund them and pay interest at the recognised figure of 8%.
total refund is £1076.82 .they have asked me to write with bank details, as the account has been closed for 3 years ,is this the norm ?

    Hi Geelamch,

Well done, this does sound ok to me If you are unsure of giving them your bank details, write back and ask them to send you a cheque.

    GOOD LUCK
  • Had another success today.

Asked American express back for £96 of unfair charges

They credited my account today with £314.
  • Had two pre 2006 £25 charges plus several £12 charges since then with Halifax visa.

Initially wrote asking for repayment of all charges £146 plus £44.29 interest.

Got a reply with a cheque for £36.40 presumably related to the £25 charges plus interest.

Wrote back as per the guidance on here saying I wasn't happy but would accept a total of £146 ie the cost of all charges without interest.

Further reply included a cheque for £154.24 so got £190.64 in total.

Never thought i'd get the whole amount.

Thank you MSE and for the advice given through this forum. Just waiting to here from Mint cc and BoS ppi claims for an even happier crimbo.
  • Bank:Natwest
    Claimed: £170
    Received: £100

Hi, I requested a list of charges applied to my credit card and then requested payment for all charges including interest. Offered the difference between £25 and £12 charges plus interest. I accepted and received a cheque within a matter of days.

    IMPORTANT INFORMATION - PLEASE READ

Hi, I requested in December from Lloyds TSB £177 in fees applied to my credit card. I received a call on Sunday by an African gentlemen stating that he was from Lloyds TSB and all of the fees would be paid to me and quoted something from the FSA. He asked me if I would prefer a cheque or bank transfer and said he would also need to ask me some questions before the payment could be made. I asked him how much the refund was. He told me that he would need to work this out and send it to me. He then asked my name, address, telphone number and date of birth. I told him that I would not give him any personal information over the telephone. He said that I would not be getting the money. I suspected this was a hoax call -if so where has he got this information from? I still have not had a respose from LLoyds TSB.
  • Hi All,

I have just started my fight with my credit card companies, for all the money back over the last six years in unfair charges. I have started with Natwest, and await their response. I'll keep updating on the progress of the case. After claiming all my credit card charges back, I'll then start with my unfair bank charges, which will be a battle of the wits with the banks!

Finally, Martin, & MSE, a massive thank you. You are a life-saver, and god send to all of us. Please keep up the excellent work you have done so far.:money::j:beer:;)
  • PROVIDER: TSB
    CLAIMED: £312
    PAID: £368.91

Asked for the information in July and put the claim in back in October. They initially paid the difference between 24 quid and the 12 quid and paid £56.66 inc of the 8% interest. I then sent a letter back around December 31st saying this wasn't acceptable and that I would accept around £220.

I was awarded an additional £312.25 inc of 8%int. I did threaten court action. But they have paid out within 2 weeks of the last letter.

This leaves around £211 quid which I should be able to pay around april.
    Cheers

    Do I understand you correctly?

You initially claimed £312, presumably the cost of all the appropriate charges plus statutory interest.

They paid you £56.66; not offered it to you in full & final settlement, but just paid you this amount.

You didn't want to accept this and so you then contacted them, including a letter before legal action demanding presumably the £312 originally asked for less the £56.66 already paid, meaning you were then claiming £255.34.

In response for this claim for £255.34 they sent you £312.25, which just happens to be a very similar amount to that originally claimed although they had already paid you £56.66?

They must have so much money, they don't know what to do with it all ...

Well that's the thing. I sent a second letter asking for less which if they paid would have been a lot less than he 312 quid which I asked for but thats why banks are useless. I wasnt looking for more than what I asked for and was willing to take less but the paid over 50 quid more. They do this with bank charges as well.

Funny thing is if they met me half way with a recent complaint in which I said if they accepted this complaint I would be willing to waiver any claim of credit card charges and they rejected this even though I was only looking at about 80 quid compo for inconvenience.
