I sent a claim in back in 2007 for 2 credit card charges...
Since then they have dropped their charges to £12 instead of the £35 they used to charge.
Can you go back to the end of your last claim and put in for all the £12s they have charges since??
Have you read the MSE guide to reclaiming credit card charges?
It gives you the options open to you."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
Provider: barclay card
Amount Reclaimed: £260.00
Amount they paid: £411.00
I used the template letter to reclaim my charges and sent it on the 31st of January to Barclaycard. On the 8th of February I got a letter saying that they are reviewing my case and will get back to me. The next day (the 9th of Feb) I checked my account and they had repayed £411.00!!! I couldnt believe it. Thanks moneysaving expert!!!!)) :rotfl:

Dommiechop wrote: »Barclays have just paid £1124 - asked for £900. This time didnt even have to send in a third letter. Many thanks MSE for helping me get back over £3000. However if we wernt given the charges in the first place, the last 4 years might not have been so stressful.
Finally finished reclaiming:
Capital One - Claimed £856 - settled in full 3 Letters (in order as on this site)
Sainsburys - Claimed £820 - settled in full 3 letters
MBNA - Claimed £536 - settled in full 3 letters
Barclays - Claimed £900 - settled £1124!! 2 letters
Bank of Scotland - Claimed - £180 - settle in full 2 letters.
The charges consisted of various amounts + a lot were £12. I also included Interest. I expected a bigger fight, but in the end it was so easy to get my money back. Yes i went over my limit and had late charges, but only, like everyone else, we were going through a very tough time financially. With a bit more understanfding on their part we would have probably swallowed the charges as fair. But their attitude was so obnoxious they ask for this action against them.

Total £3516 - All thanks to Martin and this site. :beer:0 -
can I just ask, why are barclaycard paying out more than you have asked for?? I dont understand it. and why didnt they pay me more than I asked for and it has taken me lots of letters and the involvement of the FOS before I got my money back?0

Amount they paid: £324.00 plus £107.93
The story:
I followed template-plate letter and wrote to them on the 6th March 2011 and they responded on the 10th Mar saying they would investigate. Provider: Marbles (HFC Bank, then HSBC, then HBOS!)
Claim £4950.00
Payment Due: £5300.00 approx
I paid a £950.00 deposit for a £4950.00 IT course on my Card. The rest was paid by Bank loan. In short the IT Training company went bust. I claimed a section 75 refund from my card provider. They said as I had paid the card off and closed the account, they were not legally liable. I had several convesations with the financial ombudsman but, they can't act until the card provider gives a final response. I wrote again and again and almost gave up. I wrote again in March this year demanding a final response. I had a phone call from them to say they had upheld my complaint and would refund me in full plus interest and a payment for my inconvenience. I am told the cheque will be with me next week. The fact my card had changed hands several times does not mean that the latest owner is not liable for transactions made when the card was under previous ownership.
The moral of the story is don't let them grind you down, keep plugging away and you will get there. It took me nearly 2 years. I'm glad my wife kept on at me.Total claimed so far....over £40k! All for friends and relatives, who needs claim companies when we've got Martin!0 -
I wrote to Barclaycard on 18 April asking for £164+ interest. Got a holding letter last week, followed by a letter today dated 03 May saying the charges are fair but they are repaying 6 years worth of charges £184 + £60.18.
That'll do me. It's a shame it came to it seeing as every single charge but £20 was levied during a period when I offered and maintained a pro rata payment £1 short of their demand (I couldn't pay the £1 as it would mean paying about £40 to other creditors to keep the pro rata fair).0
