It gets weirder by the day - Im sure they make it up as they go along.
Letter recieved from MBNA stating that they will pay all charges +8% interest before 2006 but NOT after this date becuase their charges from then on in line with the OFT's ruling and thus deemed to be 'fair'.
    anyone else had this one?

    Hi Matty

Got letter last week stating the same that they see there charges fair after 2006 and will not be taking the matter further nor respond to further correspondance regarding the case, in there eyes the case is closed and refer me to take it up with OFT, they did however keep me waiting weeks ad kept delaying the process in which they are meat to respond much sooner, i have a ppi claim with them at present and still waiting to hear back from them....

I had the same problem with MBNA playing hard ball and not agreeing to refund any charges after 2006

So i just did what they asked and have taken my claim to the Financial Ombudsman who have sent me two letters so far with a progress update and i should hear something from them pretty soon on whether they I have a strong case

Dont let the !!!!!!s get away with it, just follow Martins guide on how to submit your claim to the FoS and let them sort it out

Will keep you all updated since its been about six weeks since I first sent my claim to FoS and they said this process should take about 8 weeks assuming MBNA respond promptly

    Hi all,

just wondering if people are still getting the charges back?

I have just wrote 8 letters to several different creditcard firms, but mainly for charges post 2006 i.e. £12 charges - lots of them!

are people still founding that firms are paying up, or is it a lost cause?

    Cheers!
  • Hi I am new to this site and am looking at trying to claim any charges on my egg card?

    Hi all

Just an update to my previous post, after writing off the FoS about six weeks ago they have been excellent and resolved my case for me against MBNA for late fees on my credit card

Received confirmation from FoS today that MBNA have agreed to repay full charges rather than face further investigation by the FoS re my claim. The amount they will repay includes all interest and charges going back prior to 2006!

Thrilled with the result since MBNA could have / should have coughed up alot earlier and no doubt didnt expect me to follow this through

So anyone out there just DO NOT GIVE IN TO THESE THIEVING BANKS / CREDIT CARD COMPANIES!

They have made such high profits from us consumers through unfair charges that they have deep enough pockets to pay up every consumer that feels they have been unfairly treated.

And the threat of any investigation by FoS seems to send them cowering into a corner

So a big thanks to this website and the FoS

All in all i have managed to reclaim a total of £5000 from HSBC/HBOS/Mint/Barclaycard since i begun fighting my corner in April 2010 and am now never ever going to get into debt with the credit cards

I have just had a letter from Barclaycard. They are giving me the full amount I asked for plus more. Thats all my £20 charges plus £12 charges plus the APR I paid on the charges and the 8% the court would give me. I cannot believe they gave the the £12 charges I really thought I was pushing my luck with them.

Sorry in advance for all the questions.... how did you manage that? Did you have all the figures or did you just ask for the charges back? Any advice gratefully received.

Well done! :T I put in a claim to Barclaycard for my Dad for all the £25 and £12 charges. Today he got a letter they are refunding it all back to him, plus 8%. That's £730!! :j All it took was one letter. Just wish they were this easy to deal with when it comes to PPI! But that's another story. ;)

I worked it all out (requestied a breakdown of all my charges in a SARs), charges + interest at 8% and told them I wanted this amount they agreed with my amount but seem to have added more on, I am not complaining mind. All it took was the first letter, I think the only company that took 2 letter so far is Cap 1. MBNA also only took one letter for the PPI complaint I made with them.
