    Tenth Anniversary Combo Breaker
More success for my Dad today! Capital One have offered to pay almost £400 back :j
I sent the first letter about a month ago and they wrote back offering £30! I wrote back saying no way I want the whole amount requested etc etc. And today he got a letter off them for about £100 less that he requested. But that'll do!

Good luck to you all reclaiming and don't give up! :)
  • Should have done this ages and ages ago. Sent letters for HFC asking them to send details of the default charges on my card and husbands. I didn't include the £10 fee - wanted to see if they'd ask for it. Letters were sent on 26th May. We each got a letter this morning saying that as gesture of goodwill they are refunding £1900 to my account & £700 to husbands. This includes an interest payment. I'm delighted. That is almost 2/3 of current balance and brings my account within credit limit for the first time in years as it was well over because of the charges. Husbands card will now be paid off within the next 3 months. :j
  • Currently at letter 2 stage with Barclaycard requesting £750. They have acknowledged my letter within 1 week and say they should have a final response by 5th July.
Have had 2 letters from MBNA who owe me £703. They have said that they are sorry for the delay but that they will send a response by 4th July (56th day of their 56 day allowence). I know that they have a massive back log of complaints due to a large number of PPI complaints and the department in Chester being short staffed.
I think Barclaycard will settle immediatley. MBNA may have to go through the FOS but I WILL WIN! Then its on to Lloyds and Littlewoods for the Mrs, MBNA for father in law and then there is the PPI that my self employed dad could never have claimed on!! Updates to follow!!!! :-)
  • I recently emailed MBNA as I have many of these '£12' charges but they have point blank refused me and stated that I should have monitored my account more closely! Should I continue with the complaint?

Not a credit card but a success anyway!

    Provider: Shop Direct
    Amount Claimed: £280.00
    Amount Paid: £280.00

My wife had a catalogue account with Shop Direct (Littlewoods, Very, etc.) She got into a little difficulty with them and then started to clear the account. The balance was not reducing very much even with payment of £80 or £100. Eventually I wrote on her behalf they sent one letter asking why we wanted them to explain their charges, to which we replied. They sent another letter saying as we had not replied they had closed the file and would we pay up. After sending several more letters, which they ignored, we contacted the financial ombudsman. Lo and behold after a few weeks we get a letter offering to remit the balance in full and close the account. In the FOS letter it says they did this to avoid a formal FOS investigation. We have now had the formal letter saying the account is now closed with no balance remaining.
Total claimed so far....over £40k! All for friends and relatives, who needs claim companies when we've got Martin!

    Claim £466.56

    Payment Due: £466.56

    Hi all

Got the letter in the post this morning, full payment back of £466.56!!!!

This is all for £12 charges dating back no further than 2008!

Its only taken 2 letters to them. The 1st letter from them was the basic sod off - our charges are fair letter, so i sent them the 2nd letter and told them i would take court action, and they pay up!

Thanks you all so much!, i will now go full throttle and claim the rest back from the others (Egg watch out!)

I would just like to re-point out that this was a claim for just £12 charges, so just goes to show that they will still pay out!

They try to puch you in to the FOS system, knowing full well the the FOS will not investigate the £12 charges. If you are just claiming these, tell them you will goto court and take them if the still say no!

Why does the government and other bodies let them get away with this???????????????????

SUCCESSS! sent an email to the ceo of halifax YESTERDAY! stating that i was in financial hardship, the charges had made it snowball so much it was impossible for me to sort and that i sent a letter in January and hadnt heard anything.
TODAY got a phone call stating that on this occasion as they could see the charges had caused issues that they will refund my charges.

  • Provider: Natwest Mastercard

    Claim: £280

    Amount Paid: £324

Recently sent a letter to Natwest asking them to refund all the £12 charges that had been applied to my account. First response wasn't very helpful. Basically told me to get lost.

Sent a second letter in line with the template threatening court action . I also reduced my claim from £280 to £200.

Received a letter back a week later offering the entire amount, as well as the interest which i didn't even ask for originally. A total of £324.

    Couldn't be happier.

Thank you very much for all the advice, such a great forum.

    Provider - Barclaycard

    Amount claimed - £750

    Amount Paid £721

I originally posted as 'the reclaimer' but I forgot the password so have re registered!! Anyway, Barclaycard paid me almost all charges I owed plus 8% intrest which was enough to pay my balance and clear another card!

All it took was 2 letters!!

MBNA however are playing hard ball and told me to go to the FOS. I am sending my letter to them tomorrow.

One letter to Barclaycard was all it took and they have refunded all my fees to me. Only £36 but it's £36 I wouldn't have had otherwise so I'm happy
