hI HOW LANG DID IT TAKE BEFORE YOU GOT A REPLY FROM BARCLAYCARD??

    THANKS

    Amount claimed: £414

    Amount paid : £414

Story: I've been checking this site for a few months reading all the success stories and decided it wouldn't do any harm to give it a go. I must admit the fact that most of the charges were £12 I was slightly put off (due to the ruling made in relation to charges). however I wrote to Barclaycard initially to request a list of all my defaults/ fees, then wrote claiming back the charges using the templates provided and used the interest calculator. Anyway they've just wrote back today offering a full settlement including interest!! Made up, this site is truely a god send. I'm now onto the rest!!

Hi it took around 2 weeks.
  • MBNA

    Late Payment Charges £25
Offer £45.56 includes interest and 8%

Another win just a small one though! Better in my pocket than theirs!

hi there it was for 3 x £25 charges theve refunded the difference plus 8% dont think you`ll get anywhere with the £12 charges the oft deemed them as fair, good luck though. Lindsay

Hi im also having no luck with MBNA on two creditcards one was for £890 there mostly over £25 pound charges and the other card for £1,500 worth of charges mostly £25 but some £12 charges they sent a letter point blank refusing any refunds so sent them a letter saying im taking them too court they have only a few days too reply so fingers crossed.
The bit that annoyed me was they sent the exact same letter for both creditcards it was like a standard letter of saying get lost
But here hoping let me know how you get on and just dont through the hurdle in follow martins advice will keep you updated

    Hi
I have sent the court action letter to MBNA but had no luck with them, so it looks like i can only goto court.

Let me know how you get on.

    Provider: Tesco's credit card
Amount Reclaimed: Had no idea how much as went back years
    Amount they paid: £979.98
    The story:

I had no idea PPI applied to credit cards until I heard the news in May. I'd never requested insurance on my card but at some point it was added and had been told it was for lost and stolen cards when I rang to question it. When I heard the news I rang and asked them again and was told the same answer. However, I then spoke to the insurance provider who said I wasn't on their books and so it must be PPI. Then he said Tesco's staff do this all the time making the mistake which is appalling!

So, I put in my complaint. Every month I got a letter saying it was being looked in to but they needed more information internally.

I then remembered quite a few years ago, Tesco's 'upgraded' my account for being a good customer, changing the card from a Visa to a Mastercard. I think it was then they added the PPI without asking me.

Bear in mind, I don't buy insurance products like this, I didn't know what PPI was at the time and I have no documentation about this insurance in my files. As far as I'm concerned, this was added without my consent!

Tesco's said if I wasn't happy I should write to the Ombudsman so I did and sent a copy of what I'd filled in to them including all the stuff about the switching of the account which I'd remembered after my initial complaint. One week later, I get the letter saying they'll pay everything back to Oct 2003, with 8% interest!

It's a good thing I remembered the card switch. I've had my credit card since '97 and knew it definitely wasn't on at the start but for a while couldn't work out how it would just appear.

Still shocked at how they could do this too without my permission and then the staff don't have a clue what it is.

Thanks MSE. It's only because of you that I found this out!

EGG were definitely the ones for me to go to first. Started process at end of June and, after a lot of feet dragging, just received a letter saying I've been refunded £930! :D

Shame it has to go towards my DMP...
Going to continue battle with HSBC and MBNA next week
  • Barclayscard today offered me a refund of £49.51 dating back to 2006. I've just sent a reply informing them of which account to place the refund and to ask why they have not investigated the life of the account, they've only gone back to 2005. My guess would be "we only have information going back that far" which would mean that I would SAR them for all the information. As I'm new to this, would a SAR cover all statements from the date the account opened?

    Thanks in advance.
