  • Thanks MSE got £1,600 dating back to 2004. Your template letters really helped.
  • Provider : Capital One
    Amount reclaimed £156 (£12 charges) + £16.34 Interest + £172.34
    Amount paid : £172.34

I initially wrote to Capital One requesting my charges without enclosing the £10 fee (as this has worked with 4 other companies). Capital One wrote back and asked for the fee so I sent a cheque. They replied with all my charges which added up to £156, with the interest calculator I wrote back and requested my charges and interest to be repaid in total £172.34.

I then received a letter back saying their charges were fair and they wouldn't pay me, I then used the next template letter and today I received a letter to say they have reconsidered and are paying me the full amount I requested :j

In total thanks to MSE I have reclaimed :-

    £51.84 from Tesco
    £60.72 from Post Office

All were £12 charges. Not as much as some people on here but still £284.90 in total.

    Mint - Awaiting reply
    MBNA - Awaiting reply.

Incidentally I only had to pay £10 to Capital One for a list of my charges, all the others provided them for free.

I hope this helps and encourages other people to claim.
Car loan £8105.35 57/60 payments left of £141.80 per month
Loan £6687.23 55/58 payments left of £165 per month
    Nationwide £1183 (0% interest until 02/2026)

    Total debt £15975.48

EGG were definitely the ones for me to go to first. Started process at end of June and, after a lot of feet dragging, just received a letter saying I've been refunded £930! :D

Going to continue battle with HSBC and MBNA next week

  • Hi All.

Im being a bit lazy with not reading the posts, sorry.

Can you still claim credit card charges but not through hardship?

Is it still the past 6 years that you can claim?

  • Provider: Tesco Clubcard Credit Card (Tesco Bank / RBS)
    Amount Reclaimed: £36 + interest
    Amount they paid: £90.72
    The story:

I've had a couple of £12 charges due to a slight misunderstanding on the date that the balance clears (I repay in full each month - only use the card for the tesco points) and decided to try and reclaim after reading these guides. I went back through my statements and found 3 charges. I sent in the initial template letter detailing these charges - claiming for £36+interest.

Their initial response was the standard attempt to say that the charges were fair and that I was not entitled to reclaim, however their statement of charges showed that I'd actually been charged 7 times in total - which I was slightly surprised about.

I then sent the second standard letter from here stating that I was not satisfied with their response, and that I also wished to claim the additional charges they had raised to my attention (totalling £84 + interest). They replied back with an offer for the full amount (£90.72) by cheque, which I'm just waiting for now in the post.

First letter sent to them on 02/10/11 - final offer letter received 21/10/11.

    Thanks MSE!

    amount reclaimed : £700

amount recieved : £880.73 (inc interest)

    The Story

Wrote a letter from the template section here, recieved a reply within 2 weeks saying they would look in to it. I recieved a letter on Saturday offering £880.73 as a full and final settlement. Most of the charges were £12 but about 7 were £25 going back 6 years. Thanks again to this site for pointing me in the right direction

Yes, I successfully reclaimed PPI charges that were put on my credit card without my request and Tesco paid up as far back as Oct 2003. They didn't have any records before then and neither did I.
  • Huge huge thanks to Martin and MoneySavingExpert.com

I have a loan with Barclays which I'm still repaying; due to finish in about 5 months. However I put in a reclaim for PPI after I read of the success stories on MSE.
I downloaded the questionnaire, sent it off sometime in August or thereabouts, got a reply to say that they'll be getting in touch with me in November. I was about to reply them this weekend when I got a letter saying that they will be making the repayments:j

They will pay off the remaining loan with the money and I'll get whatever's left over. I don't have the exact amounts at hand...just too excited and thought I should share it straightaway:j

Thank you Martin and the MSE team!!!
  • Hello - in August I claimed from HSBC, Tesco, Capital One, Argos and MBNA

Received a cheque from Tesco for £35 and a letter from HSBC saying that they will refund me £3600 within 28 days and a letter from Argos to say they will be paying £14. Every little helps!

MBNA sent me a photocopy of my application which clearly showed the box being ticked for PPI - however I don't remember doing this....they say this complaint will not be upheld and the case is now closed. What should I do now?
