Provider: MBNA
Amount Reclaimed: £292.83
Amount they paid: £12.50 initially followed by £280.33
The story::D
16/11/09 initial letter asking for breakdown of charges. (enclosed £10 cheque but they returned it un-cashed)
11/01/10 1st letter reclaiming £252 + £40.83 interest.
03/02/10 final letter threatening court action and indicating would settle for £252.
MBNA initially offered £12.50 as difference between charges and the £12 charge which is deemed fair in their eyes. I wrote back saying no way :money:!! Pay me back the lot...actually I said I'd settle for amount without interest.
I haven't received a letter yet but just noticed on my statement that the full amount reclaimed has been credited :T

Sounds brilliant!
I wrote to debenhams and got the standard letter-of no, we will only of £15 as a gesture- ( the amount if 650 in charges) I have wrote to fos- is it too late to ask for the 29% and how did you work this out/
thanks heaps!!!xx

QUOTE=longhauladdict;29625937]Hi all,
Another success this time through FOS. Satander (debenhams store card) refused to pay anything but the difference so I went through the FOS and recieved a letter this week stating that Satander have offered to repay £144 plus £79.69 interest.
This is interesting though, as I had asked for the full contractual interest of 29.9% back when i wrote to Satander and also included this in my claim to the FOS. I expected that they would say that I was only entitled to the 8% court interest but I got the full 29.9% back!!!:j
I am now asking for full contractual interest on all reclaims, please PM me if you are confused by this or want to know how to work it out, for me it has equated to £100's of pounds difference from the 8% to the contractual interest!!!:T
Thanks all xx[/QUOTE]0 -
Estimator,
I think it may be too late now that you have wrote to the FOS, I don't think that they spotted that I had it at 29%.
I worked it out simply by dividing 29 by 8 (the % a court would allow)= 3.62 and then multiplied the interest (worked out from the calculator on this site) by 3.62 thus giving the interest at 29%.
It's worth writing to the FIS again advising that you had miscalculated the interest and it should be the higher figure, they can always just say no xxPay off as much as you can in 2011: £780/£8000Vouchers through surveys/shopandscan: £10/£250Ebay/Paypal target for 2011: £109/£10000 -
Provider: Capital One
Amount Reclaimed: £96
Amount they paid: £96
The story: Capital One refused to accept my payment over the phone one day but informed me they'd write to me about it all. They never did so I set up new payments online. However, they started charging me and I couldn't afford their charges. I complained, wrote 2-3 times using the templates letters from this site, and hey presto!
Last month the full amount was credited to the account! Now I just wish Vanquis Visa would give me the refund they've been promising since January 11th!!I've got nothing else but I've got my family.

Hello everyone, today i received an goodwill offer from Natwest which really suprised me. Ive been in financial hardship for months now so to receive the letter with the amount of 9053 pounds on it you can imagine my elation and relief after years of being charged real excessive fees so i wanted to sign the letter and send it straigt back to Natwest with a big fat Acception on it!!.
My problem is and this is where i need the advice?, is that i signed up to a company called Financial claims ltd in 2007 to try and reclaim back my charges i found there service very poor and infact in the latter part of my claim i found myself complaing to the obudsman about my situation of being in financial hardship and the way my bank had dealt with my complaint, yet Financial claims knew about my situation ages ago and i have felt they had done nothing about it not that they inform me of any progression or correspondence about my complaint. What do i do? do i send of the letter of acceptance to Natwest or do i have to send it to this financail claims? im happy with the settlement and do not wish for this to be on going. I rang financail claims this morning first thing to inform them that i had received a good will offer and all the call centre adviser did was jot down my cust ref. which he then replied a customer adviser would ring me tomorrow morning 24 hrs after ive made the original call, does make me wonder if they are legite?? please could any one advise me on what i can and cant do in this situation?? Thank you and people dont give up hope0 -
