    Credit Card: HSBC
    Amount Claimed: £90
    Amount they paid £167

Easy peasy this one. Sent one letter asking for charges from 2005/06 back, was only £90. They sent me back a letter telling me I hadn't signed my original letter, doh! Re-sent and 2 weeks later gets a letter in the post telling me that as a valued customer they would happily refund me £167. Brilliant! If only they were all like this

  • Card: Principles (IKANO Financial)
    Claim: £738.52
    Won: £738.52

We sent the first letter claiming £628 plus interest. Received an offer for £314.00. We wrote back thanking them for their offer but saying we were dissapointed with the amount and could they look at it again. This morning received an offer for the full amount claimed. That's over £4,000.00 reclaimed now!

We are trying to get M&S money to respond to our first letter sent 63 days ago. Just sent another letter threatening to inform information commisioner. M&S Money are horrible people they have hounded my Fiancee over the phone but have yet to respond to any request in writing. We'll get them!

We got £2.5k from GE Money without a fight but, we are about to send a SAR letter to see if there is more to claim. I'll keep you posted.:T
Total claimed so far....over £40k! All for friends and relatives, who needs claim companies when we've got Martin!
  • I'm delighted - just received £472 from MBNA! It was credited to my shrinking cc balance. It was worded as a 'good will gesture' and took 3 letters - after reading this forum I saw their reply letters as trying to fob me off and I repeated the request again. Thanks to everyone on the forum!! I would never have had the confidence to ask for fees back before.
    On a mission!

  • Yea, another one won! This time for my mum but got £505 back which included interest at full contractual rate, not 8%! Again, can't say it enough, ALWAYS try for the full contractual interest rate, they can only say no.

Thanks to all on this site for the help xx

  • Hi everyone, had success with the Halifax charges to my credit card account.

First letter sent 24 Nov requesting refund of £919.86.

They replied with offer of £274.00 (difference between £25 and £12) and no admission of liability,to be refunded to my account ( which has been defaulted and is with a DCA).

Sent 2nd letter declining and again requesting full amount.

Received a cheque this morning for £919.86

Interestingly, when I sent my 2nd letter I advised them that I am in financial hardship with priority debt (mortgage arrears) amd that I had been advised by FOS that any payments made as a gesture of goodwill should be paid only by cheque made out to me personally. I expected Halifax to insist that the refund would have to be made to my cc account and that I would need to go to the FOS for a decision, but they didn't.

I can now pay a lump sum off my mortgage arrears!

Thank you so much to everyone on this site and the advice it provides
  • A & L Credit card charges
    Amount reclaimed £547.98 (£411 + 136.98 interest)

I originally wrote to A&L 12.11.09 , heard nothing so emailed the CEO (after obtaining email address from poster on the forum)
Within a few days I received a goodwill gesture of £204 on 11.12.09
I wrote back saying whilst I appreciated the goodwill gesture I was somewhat dissatisfied with the partial amount and intended to pursue the matter further should the balance not be forthcoming.Yesterday received the difference!

Barclaycard paid up straight away £ 276.71

Gone to FOS re Egg £167.71 they only offered me £30.

Keep going everyone..I love getting cheques through the post!

Many thanks to all the Forum contributors and Money Saving Expert for their help and inspiration x

It's refreshing to see that the refund has been put to a sensible use.

I have a 'friend' who in a similar situation went out and blew her refund despite having mountains of debt - and now regrets it.
  • Card: Capital One
    Claim: £437.64
    Paid: £423.84

This claim took the best part of the last half of 2009.

I apologise that I don't have dates to hand, but due to an incredibly busy month in work and also a family bereavement I don't have all the details to hand.

In the end I had to get a BACS payment from Crapital One as cheque sent to wrong address, then cheque went missing etc etc but wanted to report a success for those of you who may be losing hope - hang in there!! Finally got my cash a week before Christmas.
  • Provider: Barclaycard
    Amount Reclaimed: £550

    Amount they paid: £717
The story: I wote to Barclaycard in November asking for a refund of charges made above the £12 . They wrote back twce in December to say they were looking at it. Today I received a letter saying that they would refund all charges for last 6 years, plus interest!!:j
My balance has been cleared already and the difference will be in my current account in the next 3 days!! One letter is all it took!! :rotfl:
Now onto the FOS regarding PPI claims!

    Hi All

Need some advice here as others seem to be having luck claiming where I don't. Despite some success others have gone quiet.

Barclaycard x 2 claims - First template letter sent recorded del, no reply, second sent recorded, no repsonse. The second threatened them with online court action to recover costs. Is this worth doing and have other sbeen sucessful like this?

Capital One - Cashed my cheque for charges cost and have sent nothing. Second letter sent but still no schedule of charges. Where do I go from here?

MBNA - Paid a nominal sum saying they dont agree with OFT charges. Appear to have ignored my second letter. Do I go straight to online claims court?

    Any help gratefully received please.

    Thanks
