  • My OH is still going with Barclaycard. He finally got written response after ringing Customer relations on 08445560104. We sent ours at the same time but he didn't get a letter from them until about 4 days after he rang them.
  • Provider: Barclaycard

Oh I am loving this thread.

I am going to try all mine, incl closed ones, Halifax, RBS and Citi cc. Anyone been in touch with Citi cc?

Also, I am on a reduced repayment plan with John Lewis and Barclays, for a few mths till i get back on my feet, does this reduced repayment plan impact the request for charges back?

    Thanks.

  • Been wrestling with a number of credit card companies for the last 6 months.
Shocked by some of the tactics I have seen used by them: not replying, saying they sold the account, asking for £10 more than once....but I have followed the templates and persisted. I find the companies refund the difference between the £12 approved and what they charged, so dont assume you will get full refund. So far, I have claimed £6729 and have had £1285 from Egg, Natwest, MBNA, Evans, Sainsburys, Amex, Halifax and Mint. A few more old cards still in progress. Definitely worth doing but a shame about the banks!

A friend pointed me to this site, so big thanks to them and to Martin!

  • Help! I was just planning on claiming back the charges on my current account with Halifax & then I noticed the following information on their website:

    h a l i f a x . c o . u k / h e l p c e n t r e / i n f o p a g e . a s p ?!!!!!BA5

(sorry I am unable to post links!)

Does this mean I cannot claim back any of the charges?
  • Provider: Natwest
    Amount Reclaimed: £1301.71

    Amount they paid: £1196.64
    The story:
Wrote to Natwest on 19th August 2009 (so glad i kept all those old CC statements!). Ignored, so wrote again 3rd September threatening court and offering to settle for £1000 if paid within 14 days. They wrote back on 9th September offering £207.36. Wrote to FOS, who said I needed to reply to Natwest again refusing the offer, but that they had done it on my behalf (4th December) and I now had to wait. Lo and behold, just after New Year recieved an offer from Natwest for £1196.64! Cheque arrived this week now safely banked - thank you so much MSE for all your help, could never have done it without you.

  • Hi all,

Another success this time through FOS. Satander (debenhams store card) refused to pay anything but the difference so I went through the FOS and recieved a letter this week stating that Satander have offered to repay £144 plus £79.69 interest.

This is interesting though, as I had asked for the full contractual interest of 29.9% back when i wrote to Satander and also included this in my claim to the FOS. I expected that they would say that I was only entitled to the 8% court interest but I got the full 29.9% back!!!:j

I am now asking for full contractual interest on all reclaims, please PM me if you are confused by this or want to know how to work it out, for me it has equated to £100's of pounds difference from the 8% to the contractual interest!!!:T

    Thanks all xx
Pay off as much as you can in 2011: £780/£8000

  • Capital one: claimed £856 - cheque for full amount
    MBNA:claimed £536 - cheque for full amount

Both cases dealt with in alloted time, 3 template letters sent to both. Usual rubbish from them, such as don't agree with you, our charges are correct, however in this case.......

    Sainsburys are next!
