Hi to everyone from an even Bonnier Scotland as a result of this fabby website!!!
Lender : Barclaycard
Amount claimed : £805.72
Amount refunded : £758.60
Sent letter on 25 Sept asking for list of all charges. Reply received on 19th October complete with all statements.
Sent claim on 21st Oct for £805.72 and received letter on 6th November advising that offer was a goodwill gesture and not accepting any liability blah blah blah!
Amount was credited back onto card, but limit was reduced by just slightly less than amount refunded!!!! At least the limit is coming down. Clydesdale Mastercard, Capital One and Flybe next in my sights! Gonna gun 'em all down.
Thanks a million Martin!!!!!

Provider: Barclaycard
Amount Reclaimed: £506.14
Amount they paid: £506.14
The story: Long time MSE reader. 1st success!
1st letter to Barclaycard on 09/10/09 requesting full list of charges.
Received every statement from when I opened the account in 2003 on 05/11/09. Break out the highlighter! £396 in charges from 2003 to present day.
Reclaim letter sent out on same day requesting £396 plus £110.14 in interest.
12/11/09 letter from Barclays offering full amount in settlement. It had already been credited to my account!!! WHOOP!!!
Thank you Martin, a true champion! :T
ps I had PPI with this account. Looking at the statements the total amount of PPI I have paid for was over £2000. I recall when I applied from my card (originally a Goldfish card) in 2003 I was approached on the street by a sales person. They offered me the card at an introductory rate and I signed up there and then (naive I know). I was advised that by adding PPI that it would not hurt my application and credit may be easier for me to get. I was told that it was not that expensive and worth the peace of mind to have the cover. In fact the box on the form to select PPI was already ticked! I later cancelled the PPI in 2008 when I found out I actually could. I am now taking steps to get this money back. Anyone else have a similar experience with Goldfish?0 -

Great success well done. Just a bit of advice. When you do your PPI reclaim work out the cost of the charges and interest applied (like you did for the reclaim) this will give you an idea of a minimum to accept back from them but do not send this list with your letter. Just amend the letter accordingly to read "all premiums paid to date" or words to that effect but dont actually mention a specific figure.
Reason for why is the PPI redress is calculated differently than the CC / Bank charges redress and is not as simple as just adding 8%. Therefore nearly always is a higher amount when calculated correctly and if you have sent them a list asking for a lower amount, which figure do you think they will pay out ?If you see a penny, pick it up, all day long you'll have good luck !!!!!!0 -

Anyone else been having REAL bother with Cap 1?
I wrote my 1st letter on 26th Oct-2 weeks later I called and was told letter hadn't been received and that I had sent it to wrong address when I queried it. Following advice here, I called again yesterday-the 3 week mark- only to be told, they have received my letter now...but can't process my complaint as I didn't sign it. Which is rubbish. Even better, I was then informed they "couldn't" write to me to confirm this, it was up to me me to write another letter. Prompty refused to accept this and now FOS taking up matter. Roll on 22nd Dec....
I've heard rumours Cap 1 tend to settle once FOS involved....0 -

Hi
Just checked my bank account today and as I sent £10 cheques to all the card companies requesting info on my charges, so far Mint, Tesco and Amex have sent cheque back saying they do not charge for the service, however Capital One have cashed it! No excuses now from them saying they haven't received my letter, so I expect a response anytime soon. Still waiting on MBNA, and Barclaycard x 2, but they acknowledged my PPI claim both times so they have the letters as they were sent together!!!!0 -
Congratulations to all that have successfully reclaimed, I must be doing something wrong, becasue I can't get any of them to cough up.Claimed back almost £4000 so far from HSBC for mis-sold PPI
£2083.00 + £242.00 8% interest from FirstPlus and lower monthly premiums:D Studio Cards paid off my account and gave me £125.00 in gift vouchers. £500.00 Barclays.0 -
Hi Martin,
this is a quick message to thank you for your invaluable advice on reclaiming credit card charges.
i wrote to MINT 23-09-09 asking for the charges and got their reply on 08-10-09. I wrote agin asking for payment of the charges on 16-10-09 and got their reply saying they are not going to pay. i wrote back on 27-10-09 as you suggested and this time I got the good news I was waiting for. They agredd to pay back plus interest that I have not aske for in my previous letres. Claim for £312 got paid £336.96
I just used your templates and nothing else. Many thanks Martin.:A

Fair play to Barclaycard. One letter, one bank transfer made +£550 :j
EGG - now they are a different story. Two letters later I am now dealing with the sanity of the Ombudsman. EGG still don't want to be grown up. They are still in tantrum mode. I guess repaying £1,088 in charges that they have "taken" from me is unpalatable. Here's the rub. When they do pay it back, because they always do, I'm going back for more on them ramping up the interest rate. Couldn't happen to a nicer company.
MORGAN STANLEY - taken over by Barclaycard so should be straightforward. £1,650 on this one but I am waiting to get to the end with EGG.:D
Love this site and fair play to all of you who have got money back.:money:0
