    Hi
Thanks to you for the post. I sent off several £10 cheques the other day requesting a list of my charges. I assume from your payout that they have refunded the statutory £12 which is the minimum they charge. Would you please let me know if this is correct and do you have the template letter that you used plse?

    Thanks
    Putty
There is no statutory £12 charge because the OFT simply said that it was the limit they were setting but ultimately only a court could decide on a fair charge.

  • Provider: Halifax Card Services
    Amount Reclaimed: £267.00 plus £46.54 in interest = £313.54
    Amount they paid: £313.54
The story: I used the template letter to request the list of charges, they duly sent it out. I used the calculator for the interest charges and then used the template letter to request the charges back. Today, we got a phone call from a very polite man at HBOS who asked if we'd consider a settlement amount, I said no (politely:A) and he then said he'd get the cheque for the full amount cut this afternoon. OMG!

    Thank you sooooo much!
  • I have been helping my fiancee sort her finances out. She has several store cards some of which she got into trouble with

GE Money - One phone call to ask why balance stood at £2500 when card not used for three years but £100 paid per month. She received a full written apology that the balance was made up of late payment charges and interest on those charges and the £2500 debt was written off completely.

Creation Financial Services - First offer received of £282 we have rejected and said we will settle on £500. Awaiting outcome.

M&S Money - Nasty people!! First letter sent will post outcome when known.

Cracking site....keep it up...and thank you to Martin for being a peoples champion!
Total claimed so far....over £40k! All for friends and relatives, who needs claim companies when we've got Martin!

Excellent news. Well done. !! In my opinion I would double check this GE Money offer as I suspect that you may even be owed money back from them. You are going to need to get chapter and verse from them first and you should be able to do this with a full SAR.

Have a look and read on the many SAR threads to get an idea what it is you are seeking, I think even there is a template letter floating about somewhere (if you cant find it let me know and I will find one and send it over). GE money are a very slippery customer and I doubt v much they would concede so easily if it wasnt to their advantage hence why I think you may of been short changed.

    Up to you.

  • Hello,

Wondering if someone can help re. a Capital One claim.

I sent the letter 14 days ago, (stupidly not via recorded delivery) and just called to find out why I haven't been contacted within 14 days, after I sent a claim letter.

I have been told my letter has not been recieved, and thst OI have to write to another address, at the Executive Office, who deal with complaints and charges claims. I had previously written to the general Nottingham address at PO BOX 5283.

Is this my genuine mistake or stalling???
  • does anyone know the address for crap1 so i can start my claim??

Them stalling !!! If I were you, I would send again this time recorded delivery so you have proof. Doesnt really matter what address you send it to as you got proof its been received at that company. Although doesnt hurt to send it the address they have stated. Once you get a response then you will have the address that deals with it for sure.

    Good luck.
