Please help me to reclaim my bank charges. Over a month ago I wrote to my bank Halifax trying to reclaim my charges. This weekend they reply by saying all claims are on hold at the moment until the ruling of OFT.My charges are almost £5000.today I phone them to ask ,I will like to change it to the hardship. They said they will send me a form to fill about my incoming and out goings. I am over my £2300 overdraft with them at the moment.Over the last few months most of my direct debit and chques were unpaid because of no enough fund in my bank account. I am about £2000 in arears with my morgage payment.I know I wil soon recived a letter from my morgage lender taking me to court.they being trying to call me but I did not pick the phone. I am not sure if I will qualify for the hardship.I bought my flat four years ago, a year after I moved in with my boyfriend. I change my halifax address to my current address.I still own my flat,i cant sell it at the moment because the eqiuaty of the property is negative.the rent does not cover my mortage.the address of my flat is diffrent to the one I am using now with halifax.I being banking with halifax ovey 16 years.so they have myflat as my old address. will I be able to qualify for hardship?

  • Provider - Citi Financial (Shell Visa card)
Amount claimed - £120 fees plus £35 interest
Amount they paid - £155.76 eventually

    The story:

Wrote to Citi in July requesting fees back, received letter August offering £48, replied declining their kind offer, received 2nd letter re-iterating their offer of £48 and enclosing a settlement form. Passed to FOS September, received letter from FOS 14 October stating Citi have agreed to pay £155.76 as an alternative to a formal investigation.

Only a small amount really, but every little bit helps reduce my debt!

Thanks for the template letters and guidance MSE!

As they will state they were not regulated at the time and therefore you cant go to FOS. Therefore only option is the legal route.........good luck.

Hi, both the Shop Direct ones were PPI complaints which have been more complicated. GE Santander and Style Financial Services have been returned to me by FOS as I incurred charges on both before they were regulated by FOS. Do you know of anyone who has been successful going down the court route with either of these? (I have searched the site and can't seem to find any),

Presumably GE Santander is the same as GE Money (before they got taken over) address College Rd in Middlesex? Then if so, I got a PPI case with FOS and has been for last 6 months ? As for Style Financial, havent heard of those so sorry cant help you.

Finally the SHop Direct regardless of charges / PPI they will defend to the hilt. Mine is now awaiting a hearing date for court. (cant wait !!! great fun. )

  • Halifax Credit Card
    Claimed £1501.00
    Paid Out £1501.00

I only a few weeks ago wrote to the Halifax requesting a list of charges. I did not include a cheque for this and they still sent me the list of charges and dates. Calculated on this site how much inc interest I wanted and sent it off to them. Got a letter back offering me £250 and refusing interest. I declined this and they gave me a small interest payment back then of around £70.00. I telephoned them said I wasnt happy and planned to take the matter to the ombudsman. Halifax still credited my card with the amount they said they would.

I complete the complaint online for the ombudsman sent it off and in less than a month the ombudsman has written to me and to the Halifax and I have today 21st Oct got the whole lot credited back to my card with no questions asked.

Im one happy bunny today.... THANKS TO THE GUYS ON THIS SITE YOUR HAVE DONE A FANTASTIC JOB SO FAR FOR US ALL.

Is your shop direct ppi or charges?? Mine are both PPI. I took Capital One to court for charges and they settled befor having to go to court so have an idea of what to do if it was charges, but wouldn't know where to start with a ppi court claim. And yes the GE santander is GE Money,, this one is charges though so I may go down the court route...if anyone else has had success with this....it's not a huge amount so don't know if its worth spending on the court fee!
