Credit Card Reclaiming Success Stories

Hi
I know this is the thread for success stories and I am not quite at that stage (yet) but looking through I see that Capital One seem to be the most awkward at refunding money-this is who I am trying to reclaim from and it seems to be a fight at every stage! I'm looking to reclaim £175 it's not even a huge amount! Is this going to be a long drawn out process do you think? Won't give up though!"That's no reason to cry. One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad."0 -
Hi,
my experience with Cap 1 seems to echo that of others, I sent the first letter asking for my money back, then the second letter (LBA), I also sent them a third letter stating that I was about to start court action. Although they offered a small amount as a goodwill payment I wanted the full amount (338), I got letters saying I shouldn't waste the courts valuable time and accept their goodwill offer. I filed with courts and they have now decided to cough up the full amount plus interest and court fee (total 493)....so WHO exactly was wasting the courts time?? They are tricky, but from what I have read on here they usually seem to pay out but only after FOS or court action is started.
Good luck!

Sent out two letters and was offered £240.00. Sent third letter asking for full amount (inc 8% interest) totalling £657.00.
Two weeks later they paid £921.00 into my account!!
Don't ask me where the extra came from but who I am to argue.

vanquis credit card
amount claimed £280
amount paid £280
i sent the template letter asking for a list of charges and a cheque for £10, within the 14 days i received the list of charges, the £10 cheque back and an offer for full repayment to my account for £280 claimed which i readily accepted.
barclaycard
amount claimed £404
amount paid £404
again i sent letter requesting list of charges and cheque for £10. received statements from account going back to 2005 when account opened.
sent the second template letter requesting charges, and 3 days later received a letter stating our charges are fair blah blah blah, but as a gesture of goodwill a full refund to the account of £404.
so in total £684 refunded with no quibbles, alas i am currently seeking bank charges from Abbey, they havent replied to my first letter so i have sent another giving 14 days to reply. abbey owe £855 in charges and i am applying due to financial hardship.
no reply as yet but today found account adjustment of £195, abbey is being very sneaky i feel. i will await letter, they still have 1 week to reply, but i am not going to accept £195!
in the meantime i am going to put in claims with 2 other credit card companies so fingers crossed!0 -
Provider: Capital One
Amount Reclaimed: £676
Amount they paid: £723.57
The story: Went through the first three letters and was only offered £96 as a goodwill gesture, refused and took it to the FOS was quite a wait before i heard back but i got a letter from capital one last week offering me £676 plus £47.57 interest that i hadn't even claimed Yippieeee!! Have sent off the acceptance letter. I'm just wondering as some people have said it is being taken off their capital one balance, did you's request this? As it says in my letter i will be sent a cheque. I owe capital one £210 maybe they will take that off my account then send the remainder?? I'm rather confused!! Either way it worked i'm glad i kept chasing it upWinging life....0 -

just wanted to say congratulations to you as I remember when you first posted so delighted that they paid out for you:j:j:j:j:j:j:j0 -
Have had 1 and a half claims sorted - claimed £275 from BoS, recd £176 after 2nd letter threatening FOS.. some charges were debatable so I thought a good result overall..
#2 Capital One- claimed £733, was offered (and accepted) £642 which was confirmed- this has yet to be deducted from company they sold debt onto in the meantime, who are now chasing.. how do I get rebate taken off?
#3 a/c though is a pain- Co-op Visa and Bryan Carter sols are playing me about- a/c referred to BC shortly after I lodged a claim (funny that..).. balance paid off though BC trying for extra charges, and neither want to consider myu claim.
Do I give the ma final chance to sort (would accept difference in my claim and theirs, if that was the end of it, though would it affect status if I had to take it further- to FOS, or c/court..?Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..

Provider: Barclaycard
Amount Reclaimed: £348 + 214.62 interest (at 20.4% - the amount they charges me)
Amount they paid: Full amount - £562.62
Wrote letter requesting list of charges which they signed for on 1st September. Received statements 26th September. Sent letter asking for money back on 28th September, they signed for it on 29th September. Received letter back dated 2nd October advising as a gesture of goodwill, the are refunding me £348 + 212.62 (the whole amount + interest at 20.4%). All in all, took a month and well worth doing. Thanks everyone for the inspiration. Just sent another letter to Barclaycard requesting another lot of charges on an old Morgan Stanley card.0 -
