Hiya, in new to all this reclaiming so any advice would be appreciated
)
I have today written to Capitalone to request that they send me all statements from beginning of account - I have had the card for 6 years. I have had an immense amount of charges over the years usually for £12 as far as i can remember. The thing is they always charges me £12 late payment and then £12 overlimit fee on top so was charged £24 in total. My question is can i still reclaim even though they are allowed to charge me £12?
Thanks,

Had some awesome news today, both mine and my fiances credit cards have been successful in claiming 1 better than the other i might add. initial letter of mine tried for £1100 inc interest got an offer of £120 sent second letter in they have offered £910 which is an awesome result. My fiances card initial letter for £340 inc interest which was all the charges. sent offer of £25 at first, second letter sent and they have come back with offer of £380, £40 over what we wanted its great and the best thing is it only took 2 letters each and a total time of 4 weeks, get claiming people martins letters work spot on, don't be afraid to threaten court action as the worst they can say is go for it then u can go to FOS if you want anyway. Its outstanding and a great saturday letter.

Provider: Capital One
Amount Reclaimed: £340
Amount they paid: £340
The story: I sent a letter asking for £340 in charges refunded. they replied offering me £48 as a goodwill gesture (difference between the charges and the £12 "fair" charge). I stuck to my guns, said i wanted the £340, they said no, they were sticking to £48 as a good will offer.
Went to FOS, they then offered me the full £340. this has bought my account back to zero and the card stays in my drawer as an emergency-only card.
Thanks to all the advice and support on here, you're all fantastic :TPounds, shillings and pence; I caught a dirty wench, I gave a cough, her leg fell off, pounds shillings and pence :rotfl:

Hiya i'm new to this site, after much lurking, and I may have the wrong place so apologies if I have.
firstly, I have recieved an offer back from my credit card company offering the difference between £12 (fair charges) and £25 (which they charged me), however, from reading this forum, it appears that £12 isn't a fair charge? Would the next step be to go to the FOS or write back to the bank, as I thought that £12 was now a fair charge?
Secondly, can we only reclaim off credit card companies, as I have charges relating to store cards and catalogues, is there any chance I can attempt these?

Thanks for all your help
on point 1: Write to them one more time giving them 7 days to refund in full and if they don't then take them to the FOS.
On point 2: yep 100% same process as credit cards albeit you might have to take them to court.0 -
Thanks for this, is there a standard template letter to send requesting the full amount or it is just along the lines that the charges still unfair and that they need to pay the full amount back? Just am confused, cos everywhere I read I seem to see that £12 is classed as fair?

Provider: MBNA
Amount Reclaimed: £561 and £480
Amount they paid: £280 and £169
The story: I ended up with 2 cards with MBNA when they bought another card out. I claimed for all charges and interest on both cards. I got a reply after two weeks saying they were looking into my complaint and I would get a response 4 weeks later. I did a good will gesture of payments over the £12 OFT level even though they didn't agree £280 and £169 :j
I sent a reply saying I accepted without prejudice their part payment but wanted the rest. I gave them 14 days to respond or I would go to court. That was 4 days ago. Keep you informed if I get more.0
