    Hi babycakes

I can't remember exactly - it was about 5/6 weeks from sending the letter to the FOS. We were told it was with their 'dedicated Accounts Charges Team'

It feels like an eternity - but it does happen. Hang in there!!

Ok the £400 reduction I can understand but the declining of renewal seems unfair to me. Does their letter make any mention as to why they are declining. Are you in arrears at all ? I would strongly suggest approaching the FOS and informing them of this as it seems unfair and unjust to now effectively demand the o/s £2k.

Post up on the other forum when you have further. as Im sure others would be interested / have comments to make on this.

    Thanks for coming back.

Yes thats how i feel. Im not in arrears and always pay as much as i can on a monthly basis normally well above the minimum payment.

What they have said is that based on a credit search they have perfomed they are unable to renew my card.

They have not demanded that i pay the 2k back in one go however i worry that this may be the next stage.

Do you think i should report this to the ombusdman and do you think i should get in touch with BC and demand that they freeze any interest on my account as it has been them that have closed this.

    Thanks

Thanks Wickken. The wait I don't mind, they told me anything up to nine months, which to be honest I kind of expected, I'm just dreading having to either go to court or worse, be told no you're not getting any money back!! I shall hopefully be back in a few weeks with a success story.

    Thanks again

Ok. Is there anything that you are aware of adverse on your credit history? Does there claim that the search on your credit history hold any water. If you have arrears/default/CCJ elsewhere then effectively they can enforce declination at renewal time. (It will be in very small writing hidden within your cards T & C's.)

However, if no bad credit then you have a stronger case for your next complaint. In which I would go straight to the FOS informing them of what has happened thus far.

I would also ascertain from your CC how they propose the o/s £2k is repaid to them. Im sure the FOS would want to know this also as it forms part of your complaint.

No harm in trying to get CC to freeze interest although I doubt they will as effectively the debt is money they have lent you and therefore applicable to interest, but hey no harm in trying. You got to send them a letter asking the above anyway ?

Good luck, any probs, then post up.

(P.S Anybody know how to move post to the other Thread)

  • MBNA - Virgin credit card

Requested all charges with interest. Sent first template letter and received response 6 weeks later confirming a refund to our account of a goodwill payment for £273.

We sent the second template letter threatening court action if they did not repay the full amount inclusive of interest.

3 weeks later, today, we have a letter confirming that in an effort to maintain their relationship with us and whilst it does not mean they agree or accept our complaint, MBNA will be crediting our account with a further payment of £821.24 :rotfl:

So 2 letters and full refund including interest of £1094.24
    2013 Grocery Challenge £450 pm
    Jan £279 / £450 (+£171) :j
    Feb £154 / £450

    2013 save £12k Challenge £0 / £12000

  • Success! £114 appeared today (natwest).

Was pretty easy - filled out hardship form, returned maestro and chequebook and was given a solo (bit annoying), was offered the full £114, accepted, appeared.

    Thanks money website!
