    Hi there

I recently had success with Barclaycard and claimed just under £400 in charges from them.

Last week i received a letter from them saying that they were reducing my credit limit by £400 as they had done a new credit search on me and i did not come up to the required standard.

Now today i have came in to a letter confirming that they are declining the renewal of my card. I have about £2000 still on the card to pay.

Has anyone else came across this?

    Thanks

    Amount received £1369.49

Received an offer of £127.50 for my first letter, sent second letter threatening court action and waited nearly a month for the reply but they coughed up the lot.

AND THIS IS THE IMPORTANT BIT

    I claimed
    £759.50 Charges
£382.56 The interest I estimated they had charged me on those charges
£157.14 The 8% interest on the charges
£61.29 The 8% interest on the interest they had charged me

    THEY PAID ALL OF IT!!!!

Ok the £400 reduction I can understand but the declining of renewal seems unfair to me. Does their letter make any mention as to why they are declining. Are you in arrears at all ? I would strongly suggest approaching the FOS and informing them of this as it seems unfair and unjust to now effectively demand the o/s £2k.

Post up on the other forum when you have further. as Im sure others would be interested / have comments to make on this.
If you see a penny, pick it up, all day long you'll have good luck !!!!!! :D

    Provider Mint
Amount Reclaimed Not specified - just indicated from the statements I had it was in excess of £400
    Amount Received £660

The whole process took 4 weeks. June 09 I wrote to Mint explaining I'd reviewed the statements I had and charges exceeded £400.

Mint replied 21 days later saying I had £660 worth of charges and as a gesture of goodwill the would pay me £60. I rang up using the direct dial number on the letter and spoke to the gentleman stating that I wanted the full amount - he agreed and re-issued a letter (which took 9 days to arrive!) offering me the £660 - I accepted and the cheque arrived within 4 days. So pleased thanks to everyone on here.

Now waiting for reply from Barclaycard (£600) and Halifax Card Services (£300) who I have written to this week. Fingers crossed and good luck everyone x
  • Hi,

I'm trying claim back charges from Barclaycard too. But they want to credit my credit card which is already over its limit, which is no good to me! Did credit a bak account or your card?

    Thanks!

Did you claim interest? If not then accept it(it must be including the £12 ones as well and not the difference) it will reduce your overall debt which is the positive thing.

    Bank: Capital One
    Amount Reclaimed: £488.00 plus £86.54
    Amount offered: £56.00 (eventually £488.00 plus £86.54)
    The story:

    The standard Capital One story:
Wrote letter asking for list of charges
    Wrote letter asking for £488.00 + £86.54
Received letter stating charges fair blah blah blah offered 'goodwill gesture' of £56.00 (difference between the £20 and £12 charges - didn't even offer interest!!)
Wrote another letter saying thank but no thanks - full amount if you please.
    Received final offer of £56.00
    Went to FOS.
Received letter this morning from FOS stating that Capital One said that - 'as an alternative to our formal investigation' will pay £488.00 + £86.54 interest :j :j

Another big big thank you to everyone on this site who made this possible :T:T:T

    Hi Wickken,

Congratulations!! Good to hear - just wondered how long it took before you got any joy with FOS? Went through the exact same process re Capital One and wrote to FOS on 5/8/09, they only processed my claim last week and said it was currently with an adjudicator (sp?) just wasn't sure how long I'd need to wait? Many thanks.
