do not give up claiming you will win in the long run.
Capital one and citi are at the ombudsman stage.
Will report back with results.
Remember dont give in to silly offers or letters,
remember its your money not theirs,
just think what the credit card companies do if you
owe them money!!!.
Get it all back!!!!! Hahahahahahahaha0 -
Well I sent a letter asking for it back using the template. If I phone I'll be fobbed anyway.I figured if you dont ask you dont get and nothing ventured...............will let you know;)
Well said. Keep us posted and good luck.If you see a penny, pick it up, all day long you'll have good luck !!!!!!0 -

If you simply don't then if you have to file a court claim then you run the risk of losing if they defend on the basis that service charges are not default charges.0

I have no intention of phoning up and asking what a service charge is nor am I as you put it being silly. I am very aware and whilst I appreciate your concern neither do I have any intention of going to court. Like I said nothing ventured nothing gained. I didnt realise my question came across as it did.I have nothing to lose and if you are correct which I feel you may be then I will simply receive a letter explaining my services charges as customer services at next are very prompt and in my experience helpful.
It came across that way. I always look at ways of avoiding delays since many people who are reclaiming are wanting to make sure there is no room for error or are not that confident in their claim. A phone call takes 30 seconds to ask and a letter may take 7 days or more for a response. I assume you are not desperate for the dosh but needless to say, I would have a different approach as my efforts would move on swiftly to reclaiming other things if that 30 seconds of my life dictated that it was unclaimable. Ah well, keep us updated on your progress.0 -
i take back what i said about vanquis refunded my charges.
3 weeks ago i settled my account with collect direct(vanquis had passed on to dca) for 50% of the outstanding balance.
1 week after i wrote to vanquis asking for list of charges. last week recieved letter saying we will refund 156 to your account please sing below etc etc.....
called them up saying ive settled my account with dca can you send me cheque....they called up dca to check it was settled etc etc.......
called me back and said, yes its settled but your balance isnt zero yet because your account hasnt been passed back to us yet, we cant send you a cheque because weve already discounted 50% off your balance. i got very peed off at this point.
my point is, fair enough they discounted 50% off, BUT i would not have necesserally made my f&f settlement offer, knowing that they would only credit my account with the charges,so really i didnt get a 50% offer, i got an 80% offer. that makes a BIG diff.
anyhow, i got very annoyed and called the financial ombudsman to make a complaint saying i only want those charges back as cheque...
OH and to top it alloff, woman at vanquis said if id waiting another month till the account was at zero and closed i would have been able to get a cheque!!!???0 -

the fact that in my eyes after i made the f&f settlement offer, paid up,and was told my account would be closed in a matter of weeks should count for something.0

Credit Card Companies:
MBNA, Citicards, Lloyds, Bank of Scotland, Barclaycard, Mint, Co-op Bank
I reclaimed my credit card fees, and when my husband saw my sucess he let me organise claims for his, too. Between us we claimed a total of £2982.07 and received £2967.09. Pretty good, eh? Only had to go to the Ombudsman with my Citicard, and they caved in quickly enough. By the time I got to doing my husband's Citicard, they just coughed up straight away!
Still waiting for the bank accounts, though.
Martin, we owe you so much!
From the bottom of my heart, Thank you.0 -
