the thing is I dont really know as Ive only been late on a couple of occasions and it looks like everything is lumped together under the title of service charge. They range from £40 to only £7 depending on the balance. Id love to know as looking at the T&Cs hasnt helped.natweststaffmember wrote: »If they are for late charges, default charges, overlimit charges then yes otherwise no.0

Mmmmmmm, sounds suspiciously like some kind of PPI payment to me, especially if it outstanding balance linked.
Give them a call and ask them what it is.If you see a penny, pick it up, all day long you'll have good luck !!!!!! 0 0

My gut feeling says that it is interest and you cannot claim that. I sent a letter to Egg about the PPI charges on my credit card. Within a week, charges refunded to the tune of over 600 quid, leaving only 300 balance. Well worth the minimal effort- only 1 letter required! Waiting to hear back for the loan...

stop being silly. If you ring up and say you don't understand what service charge means then they will explain it. If you simply don't then if you have to file a court claim then you run the risk of losing if they defend on the basis that service charges are not default charges.Well I sent a letter asking for it back using the template. If I phone I'll be fobbed anyway.I figured if you dont ask you dont get and nothing ventured...............will let you know;)0

I know this is only a very small claim but I am quite pleased. considering that i only sent one letter to find out the total charges and then one asking for them back (martins template letter) i think its a fantastic result!.it only took about three weeks from start to finish. it just shows if you dont ask, you dont get. if i hadnt been on this great website, i wouldnt have bothered. thanks Martin!0
