  • MBNA:
    Claimed £934
    Received £934

At first they just sent a cheque for the difference but after a quick threat of court they confirmed on the phone they have raised a cheque for the interest. Nice and easy.

    Egg:
    Claiming £316
was offered £52 (difference between £20 charged and £16 which they say is fair)
rejected offer and threatened to go to FOS. They refused to budge so claim going to FOS on Monday.

Egg are really quite snotty about things where as MBNA have been quite good about repaying.

    Got fobbed off.
    Reclaimed again.
    Got fobbed off.

Recieved letter today offer of £91.50.in full settlement.
    Without prejudice.

    Do not give up claiming.
They pay up in the end.
    Its your money,not theirs.

Thanks for the info on the site.
  • Hi I have had a reply from A&L regarding my request for refund of charges ad they have sent a cheque for a very small amount of the claim. I am a little confused over which letter to send saying that I wish to claimthe full amount but will accept the cheque for now?! is it step 4? as it dosn't mention that you will keep the cheque but want full amount back

    Thanks

    Bank: Capital One
    Amount Reclaimed: £488.00 plus £86.54
    Amount offered: £56.00 (eventually £488.00 plus £86.54)
    The story:

    The standard Capital One story:
Wrote letter asking for list of charges
    Wrote letter asking for £488.00 + £86.54
Received letter stating charges fair blah blah blah offered 'goodwill gesture' of £56.00 (difference between the £20 and £12 charges - didn't even offer interest!!)
Wrote another letter saying thank but no thanks - full amount if you please.
    Received final offer of £56.00
    Went to FOS.
Received letter this morning from FOS stating that Capital One said that - 'as an alternative to our formal investigation' will pay £488.00 + £86.54 interest :j :j

Another big big thank you to everyone on this site who made this possible :T:T:T

Sent the letter last week and today i got the responce with the offer and it shows money has been put to clear outstanding balance which is great as i can now close it and make a step into being debt free. Thanks to all the supportive people on the site and ofcourse Martin.
The battle with Barclays for the PPI on the same account is continuing, though :rotfl:
  • Hi all,

I'm new to this and am trying to reclaim around £1,100 from Halifax.

I sent them the letter from the site along with a list of charges I had accrued and asked for complete repayment plus interest. I received a letter from them on 20th July acknowledging my complaint and that they would resolve this in a max of 8 weeks, but would write to me within 4 weeks with an update.

Not suprisingly, it has now been 4 weeks since I got this letter and I have been sent a 4 week holding letter saying the matter will be resolved in the next 4 weeks.

I've got a feeling they are going to throw the complaint back at me and was wondering whether to sit tight and wait, or to be a bit more agressive with them.

    Any thoughts?

    Cheers
