Credit Card Reclaiming Success Stories
Comments

I am having a less successful time trying to reclaim PPI from various sources, and didn't think I had been charged too much on my credit cards except for the 6 month period directly before embarking on a DMP back in 2006. I still have ALL my statements going back over 10 years so thought I might tot up the charges and send the first template letter and see what happens........
letters sent on 22nd june....
so far....
Marbles/HFC Bank - claimed £233.80 (incl 8% interest)
letter received dated 12th july offering a cheque for £200.94
Barclaycard - claimed £409.45 (incl 8% interest)
letter received dated 10th july offering £409.45 refund to account
Morgan Stanley/Barclaycard - claimed £174.36 (incl 8% interest)
letter received dated 13 july offering £129.60 refund to bank account of my choice
Capital One - claimed £306.17 (incl 8% interest)
letter received dated 1 july offering £120 refund to account - have since found more statements and my claim is now £454.61 incl interest and I have sent second letter threatening to take it further as they offered an unsatisfactory response!
Halifax - claimed £318.99 (incl interest)
no response yet
Citi/Shell Visa - claimed £152.88 (incl interest)
looking into your complaint repsonse received today
MBNA - claimed £220.71 (incl interest)
no response yet
Even though they are pretty small amounts they all add up and can knock a fair few months off my DMP.
Definately worth doing! For the price of a stamp, what have you got to lose? I have been stunned by the quick reponses and quick offers 'without accepting liability'
Now to carry on the fight for the PPI!!

also forgot to add to that list £1244.18 reclaimed from Halifax Credit Card for interest and charges added over 6 months while they waited to pass my account to their DCA. Took over a year to get refund, they offered small amounts first and I kept refusing, insisting what they had done was unfair and they eventually (in May this year) agreed to refund the whole amount.
Just goes to show - if you think they have acted unfairly, don't give in even if they insist otherwise!LBM April 2006-19 creditors, £47,000, After 2 yrs £50,000 After 3yrs £45,373 DFW long haul supporters #101 Reclaimed: Halifax -£1566 & £448 PPI, Marbles/HFC -£200, Barclays -£409, Morgan Stanley -£129 + £933 PPI, Cap 1 -£493, Argos -£120. Provider: EGG
I applied for my statements and it took EGG nearly 4 months to send them. I complained and got them in 2 days. Then got the original lot a week later with my £10 cheque returned too.
That's bizarre, because that's exactly what happened to me with Egg. I also had to chase them for the list of charges, then also got them within a few days, and the original lot, with cheque, arrived a few days later.
Most odd, I wonder if this is something that they try deliberately with everyone?0 -
Morning guys and girls,
firstly what an excellent forum!
I have a question to do with halifax hbos, re: credit card reclaim
I've sent the letter asking for my money back ( £544.75) after getting list of all charges, I've sent each letter 1st class recorded delivery so I know its got there, its been over 14 days now since they got it and I've had no response, shall I make a phone call to them, do I qoute the letter and my credit card number and ask nicely whats going on please?
Also what dept should I ask for please?
Thanks in advance,
Regards
Olly

CREDIT CARD- Mint
AMOUNT REQUESTED: £640 + (8% INTEREST)
AMOUNT REFUNDED: £640
I sent a letter to Mint asking for a breakdown of charges in the last six years, these were sent to me within a couple of days and no charge was made.
Went through charges and using the calculator on this site worked out charges plus interst and sent off letter asking for full refund plus the interest.
Mint came back within a couple of days to offer £120 as settlement.
Sent second letter saying thanks but this was way off the mark and would take it to court if I hadent go a more favourable response with in 14 days or I would accept the £640 as full seletlment if paid to me within 14 days.
Got a letter back with a couple of days appologising and to offer me the £640 to cover the full amount of charges.
Acceptence letter in the post now.
Couldnt fault Mint's customer service on this and very pleased
Cheers

Provider Virgin (mbna)
Amount Claiming £1144.10
Amount Paid £354
Mbna sent me a chequeas a gesture of goodwill for £354, just sent letter demanding the rest or I'll go to court.
Still working on Egg x 2, Halifax and Lloyds x 2.
Is it just me or are Lloyds being a real pain to everyone, they have so far refused to even send details of charges I've requested :mad:0 -
Barclaycard
amount claimed £796 plus £283.65 interest
Amount Paid £796 plus £283.65 interest
Yipee....amount credited to card...which is great lessens the debt, was a very easy claim to make, used the templates on this site and all in all took 4 weeks...thanks to all who have posted advice on here I would never have had the courage to ask for refund of charges without reading how well you have all done in the past.
Now I just have to argue and go to the FOS about Cap One, turned down their first offer but had letter yesterday telling me it was all they were going to offer, so following the lead of others on this site I am going to take it further.
Dont give up anybody new looking at these posts, you can and will get refunds if you keep going.

First post, albeit I've browsed for months - you'll see why I'm grateful to this forum & MSE:
Abbey - claimed £482.32 (inc interest), paid £482.32. Three letters & one rebuffered offer (£58).
Alliance & Leicester - claimed £41.66 (inc interest), paid £41.66. Three letters - they initially said get stuffed.
Nationwide - claimed £243.27 (inc interest), paid £243.27. Four letters - had to go to customer resolution centre for final response where they paid all.
LLoyds - claimed £280.89 (inc interest), paid £280.89. Three letters.
Virgin - claimed £990.41 (inc interest), paid £990.41. Four letters.
HSBC - claimed £283.24 (inc interest), paid £283.24. Three letters.
Capital One - claimed £569.99 - with FOS.
Total claimed - £2321.79
Total received - £2321.79
All letters initially sent March - April 09 and final response received 01-July. This forum was ace in motivating me to do this (I'd put it off for too long) and now all my wife's cards are paid off!
I would suggest never accepting an offer unless it states it's the final offer and it's too good to refuse - I was initially so surprised that after two or three letters the blanket refusals to pay up were suddenly amended to "full goodwill payments". We used the template letters for all. If you're thinking of doing it go on!
Thanks everyone on here & hope this motivates others to do the same.
