Provider: Capital One
Amount Reclaimed: £720
Amount they paid: £720
The story:
Originally wrote letters to Cap One, but they came back with minimal offers of the difference between £20 and £12 charges, and refused to pay what I had asked for, so took it to the FOS, approx 6 weeks with the FOS and Capital One decided to pay all of it back, the cheque came in the post much quicker than I thought, so i'm well happy

I had very little balance on my Halifax cc but it built up to several hundered pounds over a 2-3 year period when I was not checking my statements. I noticed that the bulk of that was due to regular late payment charges of 25 GBP each time.
I wrote to them and protested and advised them that I was going to take legal action. They offered me 300GBP without admission of guilt. I accepted and closed the account. Good riddance!0 -
PROVIDER: CAPITAL ONE
AMOUNT CLAIMED: £743.06
Just thought id update on whats gone on with Cap 1. After filing a claim with MCOL ON THE 23/5/09 Cap 1 said they were going to defend the claim anyway this morning I recieved a letter stating that they think the charges are fair blah blah but as they do not wish to WASTE the courts time they will refund all my charges which include interest and court costs this will be issued via a cheque which I should recieve in the next 14 days but will I notify the court to say theyve paid i will do this only when the cheque is recieved and cleared in my account. It just goes to show that Cap 1 are relying on people not taking it any further when they offer the most ridiculous amounts, so I would encourage anyone who is waivering on reclaiming to go a head. thanks to all the advice on this site i have managed to reclaim the following amounts:
HALIFAX CC £897 (paid off some of card)
BARCLAY CC x 2 £980 (paid of cards)
CAHOOT PPI £12690 -

:jHi all latest update with CAP 1 just recieved a cheque for the full amount that I requested + interest+court cost so if you can afford to go through MCOL then do it, we also have another claim with cap 1 but at the time we couldnt afford to claim with MCOL so we took it to the FOS it will take a lot longer but hopefully we will get the same outcome.
thanks to all on this site as i am sure without all the advice i probably wouldnt have stuck with it.:money::A0 -
Provider: Bank of Scotland One Visa
Amount Reclaimed: £756.00 + £208.99 interest TOTAl = £964.99
Amount they paid: £980.00 + £282.52 interest TOTAL = £1262.52
The story:
Requested statements in April, received statements end of April. Sent first letter end of April requesting refund (inc interest) of £964.99. Received letter early May offering £416.00. Refused this offer and received a letter stating they would look into the case. Received a phonecall yesterday from Customer Relations asking what I wanted, to which I said a full refund. The operator asked me what website I had used to work out the interest (to which I told her this one). She said she would calculate the interest and send written confirmation. Received letter this morning offering me £1262.52 :T. Whole process took about 6/7 weeks.
Anyway, 1 down, 3 to go (Egg, Capital one and coop).0
