Sent initial letter requesting my charges back on February 19th, got miniscule offer, sent the second letter back, got the same offer back.

So I passed it on to the FOS less than a month ago and got a letter yesterday offering me (almost) the full amount! That will halve that credit card debt :D

Thanks to Martin and everyone who posts on here :j
  • Woo Hoo!

Put in a claim last March for my credit card charges and got a reply saying that they wouldnt pay out etc etc.

Decided to try again last month saying that i wasn't really happy with their reply (even though it was a year ago) and got a phonecall this morning to say that they were refunding the whole amount as a good will gesture - straight into my bank account!

Extremely happy as I thought they would just fob me off again - that was with Abbey Credit Card.

Thanks you to everyones experiences and advice on here i am now £132 better off!

The story: Already had statements so sent off first letter on 16th March asking for all the £12 charges to be repaid since the account was opened in 2004. Received reply saying no, the charges are at the low rate so fair etc. Sent 2nd letter on 18th April, recieved letter a few days later saying the letters would be passed on to the senior complaints person or something then had a phone call this morning saying they are refunding the whole amount, good times!

    The story:

    This is my third success.
Started with first request on 17 March 2009 and they took well over the 40 days to provide list of charges. i even sent a complaint to the IC.
Made the request for refund plus interest at £885.87 on 14 may and got their GOGW for full amount on 20 may.
This may have something to do with the fact that i've already had a bit of fight over an old Barclaycard account (Goldfish) which they have agreed to pay but we cant seem to agree who should get the money, i say me they say DCA. Watch this space.

Thank you MSE for giving me back some control.
  • Got an offer of £198 from Capitalone that I've signed for.Sent the 1st letter and got the usual no then sent the second and got the 'goodwill gesture' even though I had right on my side. It's intended to go straight in the credit card account and I should be able to pay the rest of the outstanding amount soon after as when I pay the £23+ minimum each month the balance stays the same.

Sent initial letter to request my statements on 22 March 2009 with the £10 cheque, statements were returned to me within the required time. I then sent the second letter requesting the amount owed to me on the 14th May 2009 and have had the letter though the door today agreeing to pay me in full. Well chuffed as I was slightly sceptical to start with, but followed all the instructions to the latter. Thanks to everyone who posted bits of info to help me on my way.:p

    Amount claimed: £402.99
    Amount paid: £402

I was reclaiming £402.99, got an intial offer from them for £102, which was paid directly into my bank account as the card's closed.

Sent the second letter back and got a further offer of £300, again paid directly into my bank. Great

    Card: Mint
    Claimed: £300
    Received: £300

Sent a letter requesting full refund of charges plus interest at 8%. Total £419. Was offered £60. Stuck to guns and asked for £300 or would proceed to court without bothering with ombudsman. Got £300 without further faff.

Note: Most of my charges were the £12 ones and the £60 initially offered by Mint comprised the difference between those and the earlier £20 charges. Furthermore, as at least a proportion of the £12 charges must be fair I decided not to hold out for a full refund of all the charges which would have been £419 and requested £300 instead.
