  • I hope this helps and has not already been covered. I wrote requesting a refund of all unfair charges and received a computer generated reply signed by the Lady Vice -President no less -I'm flattered! The first delay was to guarantee a reply by 14th. April about a months wait. This failed of course so I tried to ring on that date. It was evident they did not want to be contacted. Their correspondence had no contact name (only the Vice- President -i might contact her at home yet!), no complaint or file reference, PO box address and no phone number on the letter. To be fair they did include a leaflet with general call centre numbers. After three transfers and not being able to speak to anyone dealing with the issue I was told that a letter had been drafted on the 6th but they had no knowledge of its contents the delay was the Easter post! Over a week later got the usual letter with a "goodwill offer" of £174 against a £250+ claim. Bring it on! Wrote back thanking them for the "gift" without prejudice to my claim and cashed the cheque asap. Still pursuing the claim and waiting for some more free money. As to the blatant disregard to protocol in their complaint procedures, by a company of this stature ,i raised it with th FOS but they were unable to help in this area. Apparently it will come under the remit of the OFT and i will get them to investigate, report them to the Banking Ombudsman and anyone else with the teeth to take them to task. I will keep you posted.

I managed to claim back all my credit card charges from MBNA in Mar 09 so I decided when I was claiming for those that it would be worth trying for my PPI (or PPC as MBNA call it) charges as well.
    • 6 Feb 09 -My letter to them requesting list of all insurance charges
    • 11 Feb 09 - 1st letter from them saying we are investigating your complaint (?)
    • 6 Mar 09- 2nd letter from them and list of charges
    • 11 Mar 09 - My 1st step letter asking for refund as I thought policy mis-sold
    • 18 Mar 09 - letter from them saying thank you for my letter they will respond in 28 days
    • 9 Apr 09 - letter from them saying sorry for the delay we will repond by 11 May 09
    • 17 Apr 09 - letter from them basically saying it was up to me to have made sure it was correct and that in 03, 04 and 07 changes had been made so again it "provided me further opportunity to contact them to discuss the policy", it is the customers responsiblity to make sure things are correct.
    • I basically then goes on to say they won't pay up - that they are aware its not the reponse I wanted but this letter is thier final repsonse. It alos states it relates to a period outside time- limits for FOS and that the FOS won't deal with my complaint unless in exceptional circumstances.
    • The last sentence says they won't enter into any further correspondence regarding this matter.
HELP how do I hit them back where it hurts !!!

PS most of my letters were from the VICE President woman too!!!

You'll be better off asking on the PPI discussion thread where there are lots of clever people who know what they're talking about! This board is just about credit card charges.
I'm pretty sure that if the account is still open or has been open in the last six years then you should be able to go to the Ombudsman. I was under the impression that it was only if all the PPI payments were made longer than six years ago then you couldn't claim? Not sure TBH, try the link above :)
Reclaiming for family and friends. Won 4/13 so far
    HSBC CC - £263.25, Halifax CC - £179.45, HFC PPI - £589.00, HSBC PPI - £498.86, Lloyds PPI 1 - £400

    Provider: Barclaycard
    Amount Reclaimed: £152

    Amount they paid: £152
    The story:

I sent off the template letter to all three of my Credit card complanies on 27/04/09.
I received a letter from Barclaycard this morning with all the usual stuff about "fair charges" "regulated by the financial ombudsman" etc etc

What surprised me most was the offer of the full amount, credited back into my account on the next statement date. I would have preferred a cheque, but it saves me paying them that month!
