Provider: EGG
Amount reclaimed: £460 (includes ALL charges and interest)
Amout they paid: £460
Story:
Requested the list of charges which they didn't charge for and took 4 weeks.
I sent the 1st reclaim letter on 11th March, got a reply a week later saying charges are fair blah blah blah go to onbudsman, basically a fob off.
I sent the next letter on the 19th asking again for full charges and threatening court action. Recevied a letter a week later offering £40, difference between the £20 and £16 charges.
Was going to go to FOS but decided after reading someone else's story on here to try one last letter so I sent a third, very short letter saying that the £40 was an unsatisfactory offer, as I've said twice already I want full amount and this is my final correspondance, if I don't get a satisfactory response I'm going to court!!!!!
Got a letter back again a week later offering full amount as good will gesture but charges are fair etc!!!
Think Egg just try to play hard ball but don't give up!!!! Just waiting on Halifax, this one's my 1st success so thanx Martin and everyone on here!!!!!
WOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOO

I did not think I would be putting this up today...I have been given the run around by egg and I thought these guys would follow suit. I put my first demand letter in on the 16th March. I heard nothing back, so I sent the second letter on the 31st March followed by a "have you got my letter yet email." Still nothing back until today. And joy!! This pays the balance of my card...Martin Lewis for giving me the knowledge to take these people on and beat them at their game, sir, you are an absolute diamond. I thank you! And the rest of the team...
Don't give up on Egg, they've tried to wriggle out of it with me but persistance has paid off. I've got full amount I requested back so keep going! :rotfl:0 -

The story.
Hi everyone. this is my very first post and i really am hoping that i am doing this right. Well here goes.
Sent a letter to Barclaycard to request statements (hubbies account) on 27th Feb 09 and enclosed £10 chq.
Received the statements on 16th March 09. not bad at all.
Sent letter same day requesting £120.00 plus £6.81 interest after reading all the advice on M.S.E.
Received a letter on 23 March 09 stating:- that they feel that the charges are both fair and transparent, but as a "gesture of goodwill and without any admission of liability Barclaycard are prepared to credit you with £126.81 in full and final settlement of your claim" :T:T:T
I cant believe how quick this was sorted out!!!!:j
I just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to Martain and and everyone who have submitted a post showing your sucess. If i hadnt have read them, i wouldnt have found courage to claim.
Thanks again all x x x x x :A:A HAPPY EASTER X X X X0 -
Had an old Credit card with Abbey (MBNA) and at first was a little dubious about claiming incase Abbey came after my Bank account which is overdrawn .
However, the success stories on here got the better of me so in I jumped...- I sent off for list of charges. After I recd details of all charges, sent letter requesting £534 in charges plus £146.71 in interest
- Weeks later receive letter from Abbey (MBNA) stating charges fair and proportionate etc etc blah blah, but as a goodwill gesture please find chq for £234 (which was the difference between the £25 charge and the £12 charge and without any interest.
- Didnt accept this, so wrote back thanking them for part payment (banked and cleared) but DO NOT accept their offer and am continuing in my quest.
- Final response recd from Abbey (MBNA) recd stating they still believe their charges are fair but as a further goodwill gesture please find a further cheque for £446.71. This was the full amount I was originally seeking. (Full charge fee plus interest)
I cant believe the whole episode has been so straight forward and easy for the sake of a couple of stamps.
Big thanks to ALL at M S E for making this possible for the little people.

Provider: MINT
Amount Reclaimed: £423.63
Amount they paid: £423.63
The story:
I didnt even know you could reclaims credit card charges, I was browsing this site to find info on bank charges!
I used all the template letters on this site.
I wrote to MINT on 03 March 2009 asking for a list of my charges. They replied 3 weeks later with the charges. I wrote and asked for all the charges back including 8% interest. 7 days later they wrote back offering me just over £100 for the "difference" between what they did charge me and what they should have charged me.
I replied saying i did not accept the amount and would accept £250 as a minimum and if they didnt reply id write to the Financial Ombudsman,
One week later I got offered the FULL amount - £423.63 to be applied to my MINT credit card. I accepted the amount but said as I had paid my MINT balance in full and subsequently closed the credit card account i wanted a cheque for the full amount.
Saturday April 11th and my cheque arrived :T
MINT didnt even cash the £10.00 i originally sent requesting the charges list!:j
Just got to hear from Capitol One now who are really dragging their heels ... Letter 2 goes off to them in 2 days if they dont reply to me by then.
Thank you so much Martin!!!0 -
