Provider: HSBC
Amount Reclaimed: £207
Amount they paid: £287
The story:
Having cleared my cards with a loan last year I decided to give reclaiming a go after hearing of some success by friends. Came on this site and after reading all the success stories got straight into it.
Used my internet banking to ask HSBC for list of all charges and was sent a list by post free of charge. Sent a letter requesting charges totaling £207 (including Interest, £12 & £20 fees) around 2 weeks ago and recieved an offer this morning of £287 as a gesture of goodwill.
Sent the reply back straight away accepting!
Have had list of charges from Capital One, MBNA (Virgin) and Barclaycard and have sent letter requesting refunds.
Have had offer back from Capital One of £64 (owed over £300) so will be sending the rejection offer tomorrow.
Also waiting to hear from GE Money, Marbles and Additions with list of charges and after reading about IPP reclaiming, have sent of a letter to the infamous Welcome Finance for details of my previous account with them.
All in all, should all be successful i'll be considerably better off than I would have been without the help and inspiration from this website.
Cheers y'all. Shall keep you updated to hopefully inspire others to claim!

Provider: MBNA (Abbey Credit Card)
Amount Reclaimed: £443
Amount they paid: £443
The story: First they offered nothing. Then the difference between what they overcharged and £12 which was £125. Then I sent it to the ombudsman and they got it all back plus interest.
Feels good after abbey have been really ruthless with my bank charges last year. Even though it was an error on thier part. Look forward to getting all that back as well.
Thanks Martin.0 -
Provider: Barclaycard
Amount Reclaimed: £173.75 (including interest)
Amount They Paid: £173.75
The story: I sent off the usual letters after finally getting my statements (without the necessary account number, they did give me the run around) but as soon as I sent in the first letter, they agreed to a 'goodwill gesture'. It was paid into my account within a week of sending them my account details. By the way, my Barclaycard has been closed for years so don't hesitate to give it a go.
Thanks to Martin & the team.0 -
Provider: Barclaycard
Amount Reclaimed: £628 inc 8% interest
Amount They Paid: £628 inc interest
I did not think I would be putting this up today...I have been given the run around by egg and I thought these guys would follow suit. I put my first demand letter in on the 16th March. I heard nothing back, so I sent the second letter on the 31st March followed by a "have you got my letter yet email." Still nothing back until today. And joy!! This pays the balance of my card...Martin Lewis for giving me the knowledge to take these people on and beat them at their game, sir, you are an absolute diamond. I thank you! And the rest of the team...Start date Jan 2009: Total Debt £2800
Natwest £2000
Goldfish £600
[STRIKE]EDF Gas and Elec Arrears £300[/STRIKE] and borrowed money £200
I just want to be free of debt – I can do it! By the end of this year.0 -
Provider: MINT
Amount Claimed: £100
Amount Paid: £132
Story:
I can't believe it...MINT have been extremely efficient in processing my request. I sent Letter no.1 asking for £100 (£20 x 5 charges) plus 8% interest...within 2 days received a response offering £43.20! plus a list of all my charges which were actually £20 x 5 + £12 x 2 (£124)......so I wrote letter no.2 mentioning court action should I not get my money back in full. Today I recieved another very apologetic letter offering £124 plus 8% interest....... I'm so happy....thanks Martin.......I'm off to tackle MBNA now! :T0 -
