    I am GOBSMACKED!

I've had a court case pending for fees I'm claiming back from First Direct and only 3 weeks ago decided to have a go at my credit card providers - past and present - with little faith, I should add.

    Anyway.

3 weeks and 3 stamps and 3 template letters later and I've just had some not insignficant success!!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I asked them for £354 back in fees and interest - and I included the 'acceptable' £12 fees they charged which I was even more dubious I'd get back.
    BCard sent me my statements.
They then replied to a template letter from me and said as a gesture of goodwill here's £42
I then wrote back and said no, and threatened court using the template on here
    AND TODAY I GOT A LETTER SAYING HERE'S ANOTHER £312! :T

    I WIN.

I got the full amount back - all for the price of 3 1st class stamps!

Only Egg and MBNA to go! Oh, and First Direct.

    Amount they paid: approx £900
The story: Sent just the one letter (template + charges& interest calculations. Took approx 6 weeks to get a response which they offered around £900 (can't remem exact amount as it was almost a year ago). I accepted as it meant I could then close that account. :j

    Amount Reclaimed: £688 charges + £227.16 interest

They sent a second response saying Go Away. Sent details to FO at beginning of Aug. Received response from FO on 27th Aug to say Egg had agreed to repay full amount.:j

    It was Halifax CC.
I just phoned the customer relations number and asked them for a list of charges. They said ok and sent them out. Then I phoned and said could I please reclaim said charges over the phone. Lady said ok, will set things in motion and are you reclaiming the full amount. I said yes.
After hanging up , I worried about the fact no mention had been made of interest as the phonecall went so quickly and easily I was a bit stunned so forgot to mention it. Anyway, I get a letter from Halifax a week later saying I could have half of it.
I then rang the customer relations number and said please could I have more than what you are offering. So sorry that is three phonecalls.
aNYWAY, she said, well I haven't got the power to authorise that but will escalate the claim and pass you to the complaints dept.
Within a week, I had a letter saying sorry you are not happy with the crap offer and without admission of liability, please find all charges and interest (btw totalling a little more than I had originally calculated) have been refunded to your account with immediate effect. IF YOU ARE NOT HAPPY YOU CAN GO TO THE OMBUDSMAN. lol.:T
hopped online to check, and indeed they had been reapplied to my account, reducing my balance beautifully and giving me renewed hope for the future!
I had actually typed the letters out each time, but just because I am a lazy mare thought, I'll just give them a call on the offchance, what's the worst they can say.
Saved me the cost of any stamps!
Anyway, that's my story. Good luck everyone.
    Thanks MSE.:money:
Got Halifax Classic to reduce my interest rate by 5% woohoo - 10/06/08 Thanks MSE!
    Another 3% shaved off 10/12/08

    Claimed 1041.00
    Won 1041.00

after they offered me 12.00 per charge I decided to go to the Ombudsmen, wow can't believe how quick it was, from sending off my application to getting the full offer took about 5 weeks, just waiting for the credit to appear on my statement.

Stick at it guys its well worth the wait and I would seriously recommend the ombudsmen as oppose to MCOL as its free and surprisingly quick.

    Thanks :money: Martin
