This was my second claim against the Halifax..Earlier in the year i had a successfull claim for £919.. However whilst that cliam was being settled they continued to charge £12 fees for late / over limit.

Sent a letter to them ( template ) about ten days ago, today received a letter saying they will pay that £60. What a result.

Thanks again to all on thi site who have helped me.

I have successfully claimed back over £100 from Halifax in relation to credit card charges. i have used a company called Oasis to deal with the claim, but that came at a cost, I have had to pay £39.59 in costs, which is around 34% plus 17.5% VAT.

I am now waiting for my PPI claim, to be sorted, last time I spoke with the company dealing, the FSA needed my signiture on a document so they can calculate the value.

  • Provider: Natwest Mastercard
    Amount Reclaimed: 254.76

    Amount they paid: 259.20
    The story:

Using the template letter on the website, I applied on the 1st August 2008 for a repayment of the charges applied to my credit card, which I believed were £168, plus 8% interest, making a total reclaim of £180.69.

Two weeks' later they wrote back to me with a detailed print-out of my account charges, which revealed that I had been actually been charged £240!! The letter said that as compensation they had credited my account with £12. This, as Martin Lewis' says on his guide to reclaiming, is where the negotiation begins. As I had actually been charged waaaaay more than I thought they owed me (cheers to Natwest for pointing that out!) I applied for the £240 they had taken plus 8% interest (total £266.76), minus the £12 they had already credited me, so a total of £254.76.

I recieved a letter this morning, Thursday 2nd October, saying they had credited my account today with £247.20! Added to the £12 they had previously credited, the total Mastercard have paid me is £259.20. So not bad at all.

It was such a lovely feeling to know that after only sending two letters and following good advice from moneysavingexpert.com, I was actually given money by the credit card company!

Thank you so much :money: , you're a hero!

    a very chuffed,

    Amount Reclaimed: £264
    Amount they paid: £264

Claimed back all the charges on my old Egg card (only one charge) and current Egg Money card. Got the list of charges (well actually they sent over 100 pages of statement printouts) and they cashed my £10 cheque, then after one letter I got a long reply saying that their charges were a genuine pre-estimate of Egg's costs in customers breaking the terms of their agreement (although apprently by attributing all of Egg's staff and IT systems to just the customers who broke their credit agreements).

After another letter threatening a court case but saying this was their last chance to pay without interest they agreed to pay up and have now credited the full amount I asked for to my card balance.

    Thanks Martin. :rotfl:
