Halifax Gold Card
Requested £328.31
Received £328.31
21/5/2008 Letter 1 to Halifax Gold Card with £10 requesting statements
Received statements and calculated they owed me £240 + £88.31 interest.
29/6/2008 wrote them requesting £328.31
14/7/2008 Letter apologising for delay + leaflet
16/7/2008 "I am delighted to offer you a payment of £120 as full and final payment. - a cheque will be sent to you - please sign this document and send it back waiving all rights to us paying you any more money at all - oh, and by the way, we don't have to do this you know, we are doing it out of the goodness of our hearts ..."
21/7/2008 Paid cheque for £120 into bank and sent back a letter expressing delight at the receipt of the cheque for part-payment of my claim. However I intend pursuing the recovery of the balance, if necessary in the County Court. You have 8 weeks to review and revise your offer. (more than generous, I thought)
23/8/2008 Received letter with 5 paragraphs of justification that they owe me nothing, with the 6th paragraph saying "As a gesture of goodwill (oh yeah?) we offered to refund £120 on the credit card account. Having reviewed the account, I am willing to offer £240, in respect of default charges applied to your account. I would also be willing to offer £88.31 in interest."
23/8/2008 Completed form accepting the payments, and requesting a cheque made payable to me.
Egg Credit Card
Requested £0
Received £4791.25
Also received cheque for £4971.25 from Egg for Credit Card Repayment Protection since 2002, following ONE letter asking them to give me proof that I requested it. Didn't even have to work out how much it was - they added interest themselves and according to my calculations they paid me £300 too much ...! :rotfl::T0 -
Bank of Scotland
I asked for £690
I got £755
I wrote to the bank using the template letter, they replied saying the would offer me £299. I worte back telling them I wasnt accepting this. I wanted the full amount plus interest and if they weren't going to pay I would be taking them to court. Six weeks later I got a letter offering me £755. I have accepted this and they are in the process of sending me a cheque.
I have claimed for two cre3dit card and PPI for my bank loan and in total got £2300 from the bank. Without this site I wouldnt have bothered so thank you VERY much!!!! :j0 -
Barclay card
Claim: £454.00
Interest £149.25
Total Received £503.28 (inc interest they say)
I filed in a claim on 13/08/2008. Received a letter on 15/08/2008 saying that they would refund me £179.28 as a good will. Therefore I sent another template letter threatening them to court if they do not fully refund me. I receieved a final response letter yesterday and they agreed to refund me a total of £503.28 including interest.
It is a good offer. But I am now very puzzled, How come we have a difference between our calculations? The letter says: "Having checked our records, I can confirm that you have been charged fees totalling £503.28 including 8% interest"
Shall I ask them to enclose me a break down? I double checked the caluclation and seems to lack £100. Shall I go for the extra £100? Or go to the FOS?
Anyway, thank God and Martin , at least I've got majority (on this card) of the money back.

After giving them the first letter, they asked me to go to FOS straight away. I did and sent them a copy of the form and ref with a second letter. They offered me £32 pounds the other day after submitting the second template letter. I have sent them a third letter asking for more. Finger cross. I still have capital one and HSBC to wait for.Barclays: Claimed £603.25 / received £503.28 - chasing the differences (with FOS)

C'mon Amex and GE Money (now with FOS)0 -
I wrote to MBNA regarding CC Charges amounting to £899, this included £12 charges and those higher before they were deemed 'unfair'
I recieved a letter 3 weeks ago with an offer of £263 credited to my account. Obviously I thanked them for that payment and requested the rest ASAP before I go to the FOS.
Todays post was another letter from MBNA explaining that they have credited my account with a further £636 to make the £899 I asked for, RESULT!
Big thanks to MARTIN and all the others who have shared their stories and encouraged me to write 2 letters, thats all it takes and there is NOTHING TO LOSE!
*Those who have been offered the difference between a £25 charge and the reduced £12 charge (with MBNA), go for a FULL REFUND of ALL Charges!0 -

Provider: Egg
Amount Reclaimed: £337.1
Amount they paid: £337.83
Basically they said no and advised me to complain to FOS. I filled the claim but informed them that I have filled the claim with FOS.
2nd letter received refunding me £32. Not happy and threathened them going to court. Received a letter yesterday saying that they would refund me everything.:T
3 letters and will revceive full refund in a month.
BTW, they requested me to fill in a form saying I accept the offer as full and final settlement. Does this statement have any catches? In legal terms, is it safe to sign it?Barclays: Claimed £603.25 / received £503.28 - chasing the differences (with FOS)

Capital One
Amount requested £444 plus 99.52 interest
Received £444 plus 99.52
Requested statements on June 2008
Put the claim request in on 3rd July 08
Recd an offer letter of £144 to put back on my card which i declined & asked to look again
Recd a letter stating final offer so then sent a claim to the Financial Ombudsman end of July
Recd an acknwledgement 4th August from FOS
Recd an update on 18th stating what they were trying to do
Just got a letter tonight from them stating Capital One will pay in full to avoid a formal investigation by the FOS.
I am glad I stuck with it as I have benefited by nearly £400 which will help clear 2 credit cards which is fab with the credit crunch. I am also claiming back the PPI from the same company which fingers crossed will go the same way.
Keep with it people, its lke Martin says they will try to fob you off but its worth it in the end and all of the letters he gives you so it takes a couple of minutes each time. For my credit card claim I think i spent a total of 15 mins for all of the letters and application form and now I am over £500 better off.:beer:0 -
Capital One
Requested £72
Got £72
Wrote to them and they said no, so I wrote back saying I would contact the FO they still said no, contacted the FO and within 8 weeks of contacting the FO I got a letter saying capital one would pay the £72, so just waiting for a cheque (my account is closed with cap one, so they are sending a cheque)
FO is looking into my Barclaycard charges and Dorothy Perkins charges so should hear something about them in the next few weeks.0
