Credit Card Reclaiming Success Stories
Comments

Provider: Braclaycard, MBNA, CapitalOne
Amount Reclaimed: around 300£ each
Amount they paid: all, with interest.
The story:
I am in Brighton area. This summer I sent two letters which were the corrected templates without much editing.
Barclaycard quietly refunded after second letter (WATCH YOUR STATEMENTS!!!). For the other two: I did not go to ombudsman - went straight to court (applied online as recommended). Got full amount plus interest plus court fee (25£), the banks refunded after receiving letters from the court. Most of my fines were 12£.
Thank you Martin for help.0 -
Asked for copy statements from Lloyds TSB 03/02/2008
sent letter 1 on 24/06/2008 they said no
sent letter 2 on 01/07/2008 said no again
decided to go to financial obudsman they acknowledged my complaint and wrote to the bank
Got letter from FOS 25/09/2008 Lloyds TSB said it didn't agree that it's charges were unlawful or unfair but it would pay rather than be investigated by Financial Ombudsman and has offered the full amount plus interest.
Charges total £346.00
Interest £83.86
:j :j :j
I'm off to try for my other charges now Citicards have now been reported to the FOS so here's hoping I get the same response, will keep you posted. Don't give up guys I'm well pleased. Thanks Martin and the MSE team :beer:0 -

Cant't believe I am finally posting on a success thread!!!
I have a claim for bank charges on hold with everyone else and could not remember having paid any cc charges however whilst sorting through old paperwork I came acroos an old staement with £20 charge on it. Followed Martins simple instructions and this after one letter!!!! Not bad for the price of a couple of stamps:T
I also found statements for an old Aqua cc with charges and PPI!!!! which i didn't realise i had!!
Moral of the story check your old paperwork even if you think like me that you had not incurred charges.
Martin and team thank-you!xxxx

hi martin and team,
just a quick note of thanks. i wasnt getting anywhere with the above
banks despite sending off all the templates. got no offers from any of them, just letters saying their charges where fair. in my case, all four have gone to on to the financial ombudsman for consideration and it has won the case in my favour. only my dispute with the abbey is ongoing (like every one else) and i hope in the near future the banks will realise this is a fight they wont win and start paying out. i really want to thank you for all the advice that you, your team and all the other posters have put on here. we cant have enough success stories! thanks martin i am £952 pounds off better thanks to your site. keep up the good work mate.
kind regards

I have tried to request £313.83 from Barclaycard for Visa & Master however just got a poxy offer of £32 + £2.56 interest. Its just not good enough however I am worried about saying in my next letter that I will take them to court. What happens if I lose!!!
Hopefully gonna do another letter and post it to them tomorrow, comments welcome what shall I do????0 -
Lender : Capital One
Amount claimed : £745ish
Amount won : £745ish!
Followed normal course as per MSE templates. Letter 1 sent 14/06/08, said go away. Letter 2 sent 29/07/08. Had offer to refund approx £150. Submitted claim with Moneyclaim 13/08/08 (cost £60). Cap One said would defend. 10/09/08 had letter saying have refunded full amount. 7 days before court would have awarded me win by default. Cap One cleared card balance on 10/09, today 26/09 received cheque for remaining amount (dated 19/09).
Don't be afraid of using MCO method, way quicker and you get cost back. So grateful to all who posted stories and Martin and team, was always confident of success. Waiting for banks to lose Test case now!!!0 -

After the first reclaim letter, baclaycard made a "goodwill offer" of 443.88 which I rejected outright and threatened to go to court. Within 10 days I got a further "goodwill gesture" offer of 756.00 making a total offer of 1199.88 already credited to my account. this allowed me to close the account.
Many, many, many thanks to Martin. Have the same problem, just follow his steps to the letter and all will be fine.
