    Provider: HALIFAX
    Amount claimed: £919
    Amount they paid £919

Wrote to halifax in early may asking for statements for the last six years.
    Total inc interest was £919.

They offered £246 as a first offer which i refused and asked fore the full amount. Got letter about a week ago saying they were still investigating but gave details of F.O. service.

I was gonna buypass the F.O. and go straight to court. However sent another one of martins letters as a letter before action. I put in the letter that i would settle for £600.

Got a letter to sign this morning that they are willing to pay the full £919 in full and final settlement.

I am over the moon. This will put my credit card account in credit which i didn't really want. But will suffer that as it's a great result for me.

Thanks martin you are really an absolute star..

Just gotta tackle Capital One now

  • Claimed back £330.00 from RBS Mint - they sent me £280.00. I asked for the remainder plus interest and in total, they've refunded me over £800.00!!! I get the impression that they're just a bit snowed under with claims right now! Cheers Martin!

    Provider: Halifax Credit Card

    Claimed: £650

    Received: £650

I phoned the Halifax at the end of May asking for a list of charges. The girl told me they would follow. On 2 June I received a letter offering me £238 being the difference between the amount charged and the recommended £12.

I phoned up asking what the actual charges had been as I had never received any information. I was advised that they totalled £650. I told the girl that I wanted £650. She said she would escalate the claim.

18 July recieved a letter saying sorry that they were taking so long to investigate and inviting me to go to the Ombudsman.

19 July received a letter offering the full £650 without admission of liability.

So my advice to anyone with charges go for it. You have nothing to lose. I got £650 back for the price of a couple of phone calls.

    Hello everyone,

Seems so long ago I posted on this site (have even forgot my original log in ID) but my war against LTSB still goes on.

Last July I filed through MCOL and managed to re-claim £3652.13 on one current account and £1623.26 on the other making a TOTAL OF £5275.39 :j

I am currently still having a war with them about a credit card acount I had with them that was closed in June 2006. I am asking for £482.62 (£400 charges and £82.62 interest)
I originally wrote to them Aug 07 then forgot about it and wrote again April 2008, I got the standard get lost letter and this time decided to file with the FOS. I received a letter on 3rd June from the FOS telling me that they have written to LTSB asking for them to let me hae their "final response" to my complaint within the next 14 days (giving them until 17th June - a week on Tues) to respond - Is this normal? What will happen now? Having not dealt through the FOS before I'm not sure about this one....

    Can anyone help?

    Update on story above..........

I received a letter from LTSB following the intervention of the FOS offering £230, I wrote back saying thank you but please send me the £230 and the rest within the next 14 days or I would go back to the FOS. Last week I received a letter from the FOS telling me that "although Lloyds TSB do not accept their charges are unlawful they are willing to pay the full amount claimed to prevent further investigation from ourselves" :T Result!

I have signed the acceptance and are now just waiting for my cheque as the account has been closed for ages!
Very pleased - once agin thank you Martin, what would we do without you?

    Provider: Barclaycard

    Claimed: £140

    Received: £151.20

Wrote to Barclaycard on 12 June asking for £140 back. Got a reply saying their charges were fair and they were crediting me £31 as a goodwill gesture. Wrote back to them saying thanks for the £31 but I want the rest plus interest.

Received a letter this morning to say the account had been credited with the remainder and that my total refund is £151.20.
