Provider: Barclaycard
Amount Reclaimed: £288.00 plus interest
Amount they paid: £288.00 plus interest plus extra £30?
Only took 2 letters (Letter 1 and 2 MSE templates)
First response they offered nothing and second response they offered the lot plus interest plus an extra £30...don't know why and never bothered asking.
Two other claims on the go, waiting on response to Letter 3 with one claim and the other claim I have sent to the FOS.
All seems too easy...like many people have said don't except the first offer or if your like me don't except anything but the full amount including interest.
Thanks to MSE and everybody who has posted on this forum:T0 -
Well, having incurred a £25 'reverse transfer' fee as a result of being £50 short on a full balance transfer to clear my Cahoot credit card I have to report a successful 'reverse' of the 'reverse transfer' fee!!
To sumarise I sent an email asking them to give a fully itemised invoice for the £25 fee. Received a phone call within an hour with a predictable 'thats the way it is' response. Refused to accept this and kept on about receiving a full breakdown. I was then transfered to a manager whom again started with the 'thats the way it is'. Kept on about how the fee is made up which obviously he could not, and didn't want to, justify. Got various "thats how banks make profits and there is a penalty element in the fee" comments. However they were prepared to waive the fee as i have been a good long standing customer!
So nagging works!! Should have got my OH on the case, she would easily have got £50.0 -
Provider: RBS (Mint)
Amount reclaimed: £378.04 (including interest)
Amount paid: £311.04
Story:
Only took a couple of letters. I used the forms from this site and within 5 weeks, they sent a letter (very friendly one) saying that they accepted the claim, but would pay £288.00 only and enclosed a cheque. I wrote back and asked for interest and they replied within 2 weeks with another cheque for £23.04. I'm happy with that and I'm calling off the heavies!! Thanks Martin - this will go a long way to paying for some of the things my family needs right now.
